Yes. Always referred to as 'a racing driver called Ben'; or sometimes 'a professional racer', but NEVER as 'Ben Collins'...
'Racing driver call Ben' was the 24hr 2CV race and ''professional racer' was when parachuting into a moving car. Thanks Dave.

The Bathurst 24hr race used to held in January. My uncle used to race in it and Id love to have gone. My brother lives in Sydney and hes been a few times apparently theres a brilliant Le Mans-type atmosphere.

...I was looking for an online stream when I saw the thread title, and then came back to it
Never realised I was looking for a stream quite that long!

Its changed a lot in the last five or six years, hasnt it? When I last watched it was a 24hr race with a lot of European and American entries. My uncle was driving a 911GT3: that looks like a field of Australian V8s...

The 1000 was not always for the V8's, up until 15 years ago it had 3 classes and any car could enter, it started getting stupid when a V8 was flying down the hill and miss daisy was poodling along in her Corolla !

I knew I would get corrected on that
I didn't say the 1000 has always been for the V8s, did I
There was also a time when v8s were not even in the race.....take a look back when a Swede one in a Swedish car!

IMO this race has become ****.
The idea of a V8 passing a Carolla at 100 mph down Conrod straight is heaps better.
It is virtually a one make championship with NASCAR style use of safety cars to spice things up for the dumbed down viewer. The closest race in history - my ****!
It is what you get when the marketing men take over from the racers.

I've driven Bathhurst track, albeit when not in face mode, in a 1972 Orange VW Beetle at no more than 60Kph...LOL

Nothing too fancy, a Nikon D80 with a 70-300mm Nikkor ED and a 18-123mm Nikkor DX ED. I know focusing needs to be a little sharper, I blame my crap eyesight

I got a Nikon D700...and looking for a suitable zoom. Not sure which yet.

I don't recall what year it was, but when the Aussie V8 cars were kicked into touch by a 4Cyl Sierra Cosworth, and everything else like Nissans etc, the Aussies packed a sad-on and banned everything that wasn't a Holden/Ford Australia V8. They even accused the Cossy team of using higher octane fuels.

I don't know for sure. I am not sure if the event I decribe is for the 24hr race or the Bathurst 1000, which was held last w/e. All I know is that after a race being won by a 4Cyl Sierra Cosworth, the Aussies packed a sad-on, accused the team of using "modified" fuel LMAO and then banned everything apart from Australian made Holden/Ford V8's. I can't find a link, but will post one if I do.

I think this might be it, but don't quote me.
Wheels - The Great Race 1988 - What none of the rest could do!

Used to watch it in the late '80s/early '90s when it was called the James Hardie 1000
I too have driven the circuit Klaatu
We did it in a V6 Commodore, and I must confess that we may have exceeded the 60kph limit
BTW, if it wasn't for the the various teams running Cossies kicking **** in this and other Asian endurance races, the world would never have seen the R32 Skyline :

In the papers last week it said that each spectator was being restricted to 'just one slab' of beers per day - thats 24 cans! You were allowed 36 cans of non-alcoholic brew. Just makes you wonder what state they're in when they drive home lol

Bearing in mind it was one of the Eggenberger cars that won, there's a pretty good chance that the Aussies had a point
