Question Hard Habits to break???

I have a customer that we installed a new phone system for about 4 months ago.

Said phone system does not require a "9" for the outside line as it recognises the outgoing number automatically.

We get about 10-15 calls a week saying that they keep getting a "number not regonised" response when dialling out, basically because they are putting the 9 infront of any number they wish to dial as that is the way they used thier old system.

I have to admit that I sometimes answer my home phone with the company name

This has got me thinking.........What weird little habits do people have that you can not just seem to break???

Cheers

We'll that would depend entirely on what was on?

If you've gone for an "adult" movie then it might be alright.

However if you're there watching say Toy Story 3D or something like that then its not on

Next time they ring, simply say "How did you manage to get through to me then?"

The answer is in the question, lol.

Or... change the system to it needs a "9" to dial out

Unfortunately they call from mobiles as the phone system "isn't working"

We did mention that to the MD but he is on our side for once

I'm working in a call centre at the moment and for a while there working at a furniture shop at the weekends and having answered phones for 4/5years with the same, "Thank you for calling Richer Sounds...." I sometimes forget myself and make a complete dick outta myself whilst also confusing the customer into think they have rang, RicherSounds, Sky or Inspirational Furnishing. Its all too much at times for my feeble mind!

I work for Virginmedia and have been here a while now ..

I started in the call centres ... (OMG I hate call centres)

In 9 months the welcome went from:

Hi your through to Mark, just before I help you I just have to let you know this call cost 25p per minute plus 10p to connect calls from other networks and mobiles may vary ... if the fault is found to be with Virginmedia the cost of the call will be refunded ..

and then I moved off the phones ..

I would often take 3 goes to get my welcome right ..

It's been possible for nearly twenty years to program the switch to ignore the "9". Just use the Translation Table.

In used to work with someone that did this very thing - and you know him too.

Big Godfrey Thompson.

Dirty ***** would have walked up beside you, silently farted, begin talking and then walk away leaving you with the blame.
And they were alway rotten, but I suppose he was a big lad and done plenty of eating
