Default BT & Broadband agghhhhhh

Just been charged an extra £70 for the last quarter for exceeding usage (kids online with Xbox), I'm on option 2 with 20gigs per month @ £19.99pm + £12 line rental=£32pm. They have offered option 3 which gives unlimited usage for £27.60pm which is cheaper but what other options are out there which are reliable bearing in mind my phone line and exchange can't handle more than 8mb.

Thanks
Mog

Plus.net (PlusNet *|* Home & Business Broadband Internet Access & Phone Services UK) do an unlimited plan for £11.99 for the first 3 months and £15.99 afterwards. They were bought-over by BT a couple of years ago but still operate independently. I've used them for years and they have been extremely reliable with good support.

If that doesn't suit, take BT's £27.99 deal.

8mbps, in theory, could transmit over 2500GB per month at full capacity. OK, you'll have contention on the line, you won't be connecting 24/7, some web site won't respond at that speed, there are other line losses, and even the "unlimited" plan will probably be subject to a fair use policy, but there is huge potential for more bills on your current package.

upgrade to option 3, we're on that, very pleased with the service and the free internet security saves me buying it at £30 a year from PC world etc.

option 3 here too as we negotiated a deal that cost us £2 pm less than we we paying on option 1.

If you want to leave BT then there are plenty of options my brother is on O2 which seems to be reliable too and a fair cost.
