Default star gazers?

is anyone on here into stars n stuff and if so is there a uk website where i can find out about 'what you can see' in england etc?

yep. try Heavens-Above Home Page for Meteors, comets, satellite passes and star charts for your area. register on the site and edit your gps position manually to get the correct star chart for your location in england. would recommend a pair of binos for city viewing as light pollution will only let you see a handful of stars with the naked eye. if you live in the country at a nice dark location, enjoy. winter constellations are coming in now at reasonable times. much better to look at than the spring or summer constellations.

Just returned from South Africa - didnt recognise a bloody thing , well its a different hemisphere of course

At least there was half a chance of seeing summut tho . Back home now and that blanket of cloud - well it could be mid winter - i feel like hoping back on the plane

A friend of my mothers has given her one of these

Meade ETX-80 AT TC Computer Telescope

He's upgraded to a bigger telescope and after an idle comment from my mother saying she wouldn't mind having a go with on, this Meade telescope arrived.

Haven't used it properly yet but I can set it up to it correct location and it does track planets and things.

You can plug a camera into it so hope fully I'll get a few pics.

cheers lads, just won some seitz 15-45x70 binocs on the bay and my cars kept out in the country so could come in handy. will take a look at all the above
