Yep........hard at work LOL
2 weeks is a little early to decide what the final result is going to be. Hematoma's (the likely cause of the lump) are common following lip injuries because of the blood supply.
For example if you cut off your leg it will only bleed heavilly from the top end because thats where the blood is coming from, if the leg is completely severed the bit on the floor wont be pumping blood at all !!
The lip gets blood supply from both sides (left and right) so bleeds like buggery from both cut edges at first and even after suturing the blood can pool at the site and form a hard blood clot.
It's possible to try and suture the lip in layers but the tissues are a bit flimsy, also the lip is full of small glands which want to pop out if you try and be clever. Most lips just get sewn up using a single line of stitches at the surface leaving a potential space for a clot underneath the stitches within the lip itself !
To be honest the thing we concentrate on when sewing lips is the vermillion border (where the lip joins the skin) as if there is a difference here it *really* shows.
The hard lump should start to resolve in a couple of months
Any chance of a pic ?
Cheers

Should have got an iPhone, you could have edited the colours, and drawn a pointer on it so we can see which bit is suffering from the said "swolleness"

When I came out of hospital I had a swollen lip caused, they think, by the intubation.
It took a GOOD three weeks to no longer have a hard bit in it, and it was FAR less swollen than yours.

You took a good smack, and I believe you will always have a miss shapen lip, with a hard bit in it that you can always feel.
As I said at the time I work with a guy who had the same as you, and 10 years on its still miss shapen and has a gristley bit in it, he has also lost some sensation/feel in it, and there is a colour miss match on his lip.
How did you get on with the Bizzies, did they do him?

i had a punch up once and got wacked in the chops,my lip split open as it hit my teeth, looked nasty, needed 7 stitches,it was swollen for a long time, the doctor said id have no visile affects, well, after 4 yrs you can see where it happened if you look and the one part is ever so slightly still swollen.

looks like quite a good job
The injury is a mix of tear / crush and penetration (teeth) and often bits are missing so everything doesn't go together 100%. like jigsaw pieces from 2 different puzzles. there are often bits of lip left over which we snip off with scissors or simply "tuck" back into the wound out of sight.
The suture looks like the colour of vicryl so have a variable resorption rate.
As I said it looks good for 2 weeks post trauma.....in the longer term (months) if there is still a lump then the scar can be revised quite simply.
As for the wedding i'd suggest taking your trousers and pants off to divert attention away from your face

I think the lesson to be learnt here is "DUCK" next time
Mouth injuries can go on for ages, if your front teeth are sound at least you didn't have the jaw infection and pain I had to endure for nearly a year becos my fookin dentist missed the fact my tooth was dead and had caused the jaw bone to become infected
