The ironic thing is that the IAAF didnt want the press to know the results of the test before they had spoken to and discussed it with Semenya and the SA Athletics Federation. Shame they couldn't have acted with the same respect earlier. A cluster from beginning to end. Poor girl.

So does this mean disqualification? How do you make rules to cover this sort of thing? Are you allowed to be 5% inter-gender but not 10%? Or must you be 100% man/woman (if indeed there is such a thing?). Minefield.

"This is a medical issue and not a doping issue where she was deliberately cheating," IAAF spokesman Nick Davies is quoted as saying in Australian papers.
"These tests do not suggest any suspicion of deliberate misconduct but seek to assess the possibility of a potential medical condition which would give Semenya an unfair advantage over her competitors.
"There is no automatic disqualification of results in a case like this."
IAAF sources believe Semenya would probably keep her medal because the case was not related to a drug matter.

No - he's self sufficient - lucky ******* is what he is .
Nature is indeed a wonderful thing.
But my tongue in cheek remark was aimed at any Atheletes deciding if they should compete against men or women.
If you have a dick - you compete against other men (Especially if you look like a thin Mike Tyson)

I feel sorry for the embarrassment etc that she has had to put up with. They should at least carried out the tests without anyone else knowing about it and if necessary announcing the end result.
I always thought that since your abilities in sport depend on how your body was formed in the first place and if that gave you an advantage, as it does with the likes of world champions, then that is your good luck to be born with those abilities.
I think that should also apply if she turns out to be a female but with the gift of some male attributes which help her sporting performances.

Kinda feel sorry for her, because all the way through her life now she will be labelled as an hermaphoridite, not matter what she does or achieves!

^^ Yeah, the man does have a point.
As for what happens to her now, well if she is not female then she can run in the male Olympics. Only reason that there is a split is because men are naturally more muscular. If mangina has the benefit of testosterone then she/he will have to run with the men.
Only other option I can see is an operation to make her female. But then, she has had the benefit of muscle growth from the testosterone in her body for many years. If a female athlete did that she would be banned...so...hmmm.

Pontificating
It's been officially explained why she is more male than female and very interesting reading it makes too.
She's far more male than femalew, short of it is she's Lady Gaga's African cousin!!.
I agree poorly handled from the off and you have to feel for herm.
As for SA threatening a 3rd world war.... I think someone needs to grow up, like the poster above......

Gender tests carried out on South African athlete Caster Semenya shows the teenager is a hermaphrodite,
According to reports, "Caster will not be receiving the winner’s medal, and if she wants to complain she can go **** herself".
