In that case would the drink you described not be a Perry rather than a Cider? This confuses me as Kopparberg(worst drink ever) also refer to their pear based drinks as ciders which seems a bit daft as they are the experts after all.

It must be more to do with the fermenting process than what is in it. Apples and pears, they are associated together. To be honest i haven't a clue

pears are the new apples

sorry guys, but Rich's farmhouse scrumpy (watchfield, somerset) is THE best tasting cider ever. FACT. Not none of this crappy magners on ice rubbish. For all the real cider lovers out there, you gotta take a trip to "ye olde cider bar" in Newton abbott, south devon. The pub serves nothing but real cider and local wines

Agreed, but it does make your teeth fall out with continued use- my brother-in-law drinks it all the time.

It gives me massive stomach cramps after about the second pint so I tend to avoid it at all costs- but it is lovely.

Different is one thing, batting for the other side whilst necking girlie sounding cider is another thing altogether

The best cider has to be Foxwhelp by Gwatkin who also make the best Perry Thorn Perry.

The other very good cider is Chuckle Heads Dry cider

if you live south of london and like your cider Middle Farm near Lewes is worth a visit they have about 50 cider/perry on tap plus loads of bottled stuff though they dont sell Chucklehead

Quick Reply: Probably the best tasting cider in the world
