Forgot to say that they do both, they can ping you coming towards and going away, and both can, and do result in prosecutions.
Scamera van rules state that the operator is SUPPOSED to form an opinion that any vehicle is speeding BEFORE he pings it, ie: he is NOT supposed to ping every vehicle.

That's what I thought, Mike. Hoping someone would say otherwise...
Do they still give the old 10% margin? Indicated 35-36-ish (okay, maybe 37), I might just get under it, no?
Is it a valid argument to say I was surfing the net on my Blackberry at the time, so couldn't possibly be expected to see the 30 sign?...

I believe receiving head from a Chinese prostitute is a valid excuse.
You may just be okay, I have driven past scamera van in the scoob before at that speed but then again they are hardly the most accurate speedos

If it helps, I drove past a speed display in France, before my car shed it's big-end bearings. The posted limit was 50kph, (31.25mph), and as far as I could see, I was bang on 30mph. The speed display lit up to tell me I was doing 39kph, or 24.375mph, so you MIGHT be OK.

My mate got caught by one of these doing 38, was offered a "speed awareness" course instead, meant sitting in a classroom for 4 hours being told how bad speed is and getting shown video's, cost him £60 which is the same as the fine but no points, you might be offered that

Ah has been said, depends on how accurate your speedo is, and probably where in the country you were.
I got 3 points & a fine for doing 36 in a 30 in Worcester - my excuse is that when I used to live there the road was a 40, but hey ho.
The bit that narked was that the letter stated "we do not prosecute up to 35mph" - well thanks, I was 1 mph over this random amount.
O/H was amused as I was in my Diesel Pug, not the Scooby!

You might be lucky, depends on your local chief of police. All you can do is cross your fingers and wait. Up to 35 is what Acpo recommended but they dont have to follow that if they don't feel like it. Like the prat chief copper from N Wales.
