Yep, it's sport, it's just got plenty of mods on it. Not a bad looking car. I do love scoob's in white.
But I would prefer a classic white sti....... mmmmmmm!

I wonder what it goes like compared to say a 2 litre focus or vectra, does the flat 4 still pull well with out the turbo

What a pointless exercise, making your non-turbo look like an STi. don't see the point at all.

With all the transmission losses of 4WD. Can't see it being particularly exciting.

Mate had a sport special classic - wasn't quick at all. The electric dump valve made up for it though

I would say the price of doing this to a sport then the additional cost of insurance once all modifications are declared would make it even more pointless.

Some nice looking Sports out there, I just think its weak when you see a sport with STi/Turbo decals.

Personally I'd rather buy a MR2/Celica or err an Alfa than an N/A Impreza.

One of the moderators on Cumbrianscoobs had a DBM N/A Classic Impreza sport with a few mods when he started quite a few years ago........on our runs out he wasn't left behind.

Indeed, bought an impreza Sport 5 months before passing my driving test LOL! Was a good car actually, but quite slow (0-60 in 9.5 secs or something).

For the folk who didn't know about cars, they wondered how on earth "he was insuring a Scooby"

Maybe not if your planning a turbo once you can afford insurance etc, you will learn a lot from the sport you can carry over to a turbo, brakes/suspension/servicing etc so there are reasons to start on the bottom rung and work up in the Impreza family

I had a sport and the brakes, suspension and feel of the car is totally different.

Its a great car and at 22 I was made up with it ... I did throw a Turbo bonnet on it.. but I think it makes the car ...

Doesnt quite sound the same for some reason .. I think its the header, as I understand it they are unequal in a turbo ? anyway .. lovely car and very quick compared to the **** box corsa etc, but I wouldn't say it compares to the turbo.

I think a sport should be a sport. a turbo a turbo, etc etc.

I think they look best with as little or no mods as possible. I like a car looking standard. Well a standard Subaru looks tonnes better than 'other' cars left as standard.

I hate seeing a sport that's basically pretending to be something else. I prefer it to just be a sport.

Mine looked standard ish.

Externally, I put 16" rims on to get a better selection of tyres, then got a deal on some 2 pots off someone who was upgrading their wrx to 4 pots. Then put a STi4 mid level spoiler on, and that was it.

I have had my sport for 4 years. It's my pride and joy and I have enjoyed spending every bit of money on it over the years. I dont see it as wasted money what so ever because it still makes me smile when i drive it.

I could afford to move to a classic turbo now I am 23 but I dont see the point, (apart from the obvious acceleration increase) because mine looks better than 90% of the classic scoobies on the road and I dont fancy starting from scratch to get to that stage again.

Subaru Impreza Sports 2.0 are just the model down from a Subaru Impreza Turbo 2.0. Just as a Subaru Impreza WRX is from a Subaru Impreza STi. Were all one big Impreza family and we all want to make them look great cars! Hence why we modify them all

Looks in nice condition and has probably been looked after. Can't see the point of making it look like something that it isn't though.

Thanks mate But it looks like a subaru to me.....

Oh you mean it looks like a Turbo model.. which one? the Uk Turbo? the WRX, or the STi? Becuase as far as i know, none of them come standard like mine looks now.

Sorry to be sarcasitic but its true. Ive got a 4 door Saloon with a P1 splitter, a new age rear window spoiler. Thats not standard on any Impreza. Im not trying to make it look like anything other than a nicer looking car than a standard Impreza. And every Impreza owner is guilty to that.

We are all guilty of at least one mod.
Mine is the exhaust. But I am proud to say that everything else is completely standard, and that is the way I want to keep it.

Personally I agree with - Jamz3k - in that I can see that a heavy amount of mods to a sport will probably end up pretty close to the same cost of insuring a turbo. That is based on the fact that all the mods are declared of course.

Don't worry lad. I work in insurance so know the risks of not declaring a material fact such as modifications.

Its also not true about the price being the same. Much cheaper to Insurer a Sport with all mods declared. About £600 diff infact, as I enquired last month as my insurance was due for renewal.

Edit to say: That will obviously vary depending of the other material facts such as age, postcode and years NCD. As well as what Insurer you are using.

I did a lot of performance mods on my original STi. They were changes that you could not see from the outside and they were done purely to improve the performance. I was covered by insurance too by the way. I got a lot of satisfaction out of success with the mods that I did and it did not occur to me to make the car look any different to a straightforward STi. I did not feel that I had to try to make people think the car was any different from a standard car in any way.

At one point i made my 97 WRX look like an STI
But to be honest, they have most of the good sti bits on them anyway, and they are just as fast!

At another point i made it into something which would destroy the stock STI with utter ease, so i guess i can let myself off

I mean god forbid anyone got the wrong impression and thought that a standard STi was fast!

This isnt about deceiving people, its about me being happy about the way my car looks. I tell anyone who asks exactly what it is.

I'd happily spend the money on the STI brakes/wheels/suspension, even a Borla manifold to release some burble, whilst not doing the "flash" bits.
BUT if he chooses to do it who are we to criticise ?

Looks tidy, so I vote yes.

P.S. A set of forged pistons and a bolt-on supercharger..... Oh don't forget the re-map !
