BentMikey and a Subaru Driver - Cycle Chat

Not seen the video as is blocked at work but it sounds a bit dodgy, anyone off here making a nuisance of themselves ?

Looks bad, but you really have to ask what sort of perosn cycles around with a video camera running constantly and then says things like 'this is going on You Tube'.... makes you wonder if they go around looking for trouble IMO

One on a badly lit recumbent, who's got in scrapes before.

IMHO

P.S. Speed in the wrong place, in the wet & near cyclists isn't smart. Yes I am a cyclist too !

It is a fine line, some peopel do it as they feel they need some proof of some of the tricks other people play having been hurt or abused in some way, the camera users tend to have commutes through busy city centres, but I do agree there is an element of seeing as they have the camera they may subconciously be looking to justify it.

Some of the footage that appears on youtube just seems minor really but some of it beggars belief, I would hope that some publicity like that and drivers thinking they may be on camera may make them behave more responsibly around cylcists, though it does work both ways, perhaps some cyclists should be videoed on the pavement and jumping lights for balance.

D4N acted like a **** but I have to admit that I'd class people who ride recumbant bikes in the same group as unicyclists and reserve a special place for them in the work camps when I take over as not-so-benevolent dictator of earth.

I had someone trying to overtake me between 2 cars last night so I pulled out a little further than normal and he slammed on. He was turning left about 10 metres ahead. Makes me mad!

To be fair, the 'clown bike' cyclist is riding round looking to screw over motorists. What a dick. Those recumbents are a f@cking menace. Fat boy didnt do himself any favours, but I bet Krusty's mission is to rid the world of those pesky metal shelled go-karts.

Or to get to work on his bike type thing without having a Subaru front bumper separate his skull from his spinal column ?

A lot of recumbent riders do tend to be eccentric bearded types, or alternatively those who cant ride a normal upright due to back problems or other disability, to be honest I would prefer to meet an eccentric bloke on a silly bicycle than a shouty ****, who came across better from that incident ? there may be an element of a victim mentality but I just saw him getting forced into the roadworks, D4N objected as the loud blast of his horn made him jump and think it was a truck or another car, or possibly he has himself very high in the pecking order and cant be challenged in his mighty car by a bearded wimp on a spaz chariot bike.

I suspect if "D4N OK" turns up he will be itching to fight the whole internet, who would have their name and OK after it anyway, what does that say, is he telling us he is ok, in what way ?

What is his line of work? Cameraman? I also daresay that D4N is not Ok in the least. What is the beards motivation with recording his recumbent journeys? To catch the people who actually pay for the road being a menace?

Oh give over with the hackneyed line about those who pay for the road, it gets shot down in flames every single time, it isnt the roads you pay for, its the right to used a motorised vehicle on it, we are all on a level playing field here, you make the choice whether to use a car or a bike, you pay Vehicle excise duty, a bike isnt classed as a vehicle and a couple of hundred quid a year doesnt give anybody the right to be **** like that.

Do we ban cycling so that just the paying users can use the roads ?

Ok, youve got me, a total tool. Im a cyclist as well, but my objection is why the guy cycles round videoing his journeys. Im not defending Fat Boy in the least, but also because one guy ^ accuses me of being a tool because of 1/2 posts, I wont back down and change my view that the guy is almost looking for trouble to post on his forum, to the detriment of motorists. (not including D4N).
Read back through my 600 odd posts Simon, and you will find that I am not actually a tool, and my tool to common sense postings ratio is 300:1.

Edited to add: Ive obviously opened a Hornets nest here, sorry to offend anyone, last post from me on the subject.

Myles, Lol at the ration comment, honestly I can see what you are getting at, it irks me slightly when I see them videoing, I personally dont feel the need to but there is no law against it, in this case it seems to have been a shrewd move, you are pretty vulneralble on a bike, particularly one down on the floor so I suspect that may be his reasoning and also why he has the "Airzound" mega bike horn thing that "D4N" was objecting to as he wasnt expecing it an possibly touched cloth, until he realised who it was.

It's not so much the videoing that bothers me until it's combined with the 'this is going on You Tube' comment. Sorry, but as in the wrong as the Impreza driver was you have to have your suspicions the cyclist is a bit of tool
