Recommend me a Blackberry
Wanting some advise on which Blackberry to go for as an upgrade on my contract with Voodafone.
The options seem to be.
Blackberry 8900 Curve
Blackberry 9000 Bold
Blackberry Storm
I'm not too keen on the storm as I've had bad experiences with touch screen phones so it would appear to be between the Curve and the Bold.
Form what I can see the Curve has a better camera albeit it is only 3.2mpixel here as the Bold has a Wifi connection which is what makes me lean towards the Bold, anyone care to share experiences before I go to the Vodafone shop to have a play with them?
Oh and I don't want an I-Phone before anyone suggests it! lol

Hold tight maybe..
Onyx and the Tour are on their way to UK carriers.
If you go with whats available now.
Storm would not get my vote, defeats the objective of a BB imo.
Curve 8900 is a great device, but no 3G (if that bothers you) has EDGE though
Bold 9000 has 3G but is bulkier, and a lesser camera.
BOTH have WiFi
Personally, if you are getting one NOW, 8900..... if you hold out for the new ones... Onyx. (if its the expected spec)

I have just got the Curve on Vodafone. I didn't fancy the touch screen of the storm either.
My curve has wi-fi connectivity btw
So far I am loving the 8900 and all the apps I can add to it.
Currently playing with the Gps features for tracking my running etc.

Fair play mate
It is very much a try it and see thing for most.
Having an 8320 I know all about plastic feel lol.
Bring on the Onyx I say.
Been using buses a lot recently, and noticed just how many BB users there are now. Not seen many iPhones on the bus though. Guessing they are either hiding them incase they get mugged, or are in cabs because they are so much better than BB users lol.

I'd reccommend the 8900 cureve I have the titianium model and it feels good, I've used the bold but didn't like the widness of it.
I've had both a iphone and a curve I would still say the iphone is slighlty better (because of the apps)

So you can receive them any time, reply anytime, but work will never assume you worked out of hours, if that makes sense lol

I downloaded SportyPal to track my route when running/cycling etc and love the fact it plots the route using Google maps.
I'm in the process of changing some of the chrome on my8900 Curve.

The Tour was out in the USA for about 3 months before we even got a sniff of it over here.
Personally I am half tempted to get an 8900 for now, then buy an Onyx offline.
If you can wait, hold out. What are you using now?

thanks for the info Snazy
I'm currently using a MDA Touch Plus, its ok but had enough of Windows Mobile . Da Mrs upgraded to the Compact V last week and reverted back to her old nokia the very next day. The software was just too qwerky for her, and the G-sensor - well lets just say it had a mind of its own.
Both of us were looking to got for the 8900.

OK for a first time BB user I would say the 8900 is a great place to start then.
It is only missing 3G from being a perfect package really. The Onyx is a little faster, and has 3G but certainly does not make the 8900 seem terribly old and dated.
If you can live with EDGE and not full 3G, which is actually pretty limited in its effectiveness anyway, then go for the 8900.
By the time the Onyx is out, you will be half way through your new contract, up to speed with Blackberry's and know if they are for you or not.
They suprise a lot of people tbh, you only have to look at the number of people on here slowly moving over. Most being more than happy. Its a bit of a change, but I would not change back for anything.
If I can offer any other advice, let me know. Im far from the oracle, but will try

If you make it over to the dark side, join our little social group, and post your PIN too. PIN messaging and BBM makes BB's even more fun
There is a lot of conflicting info on Crackberry, and just remember its a USA site, so "its finally launched on T-Mobile" rarely means the UK lol

Thats all getting a bit complex though, as the US market get different devices to us lol.
The "official rumour" was it WILL have WiFi now, although the first test units send out didnt.
Guess we will have to wait and see.
But at this point, I would get an 8900
