Whats with Eddie Jordan
On the live coverage today after the accident, he made a comment to say that he had just heard from one of his confidential sources, who he did not want to name, that it was ok, Massa had just taken a light knock to the head and was fine.
DC then commented that he was curious who this could have been that told Eddie, and WHEN, as he had been with him since the accident and not seen Eddie speak to anyone
Is it just me, or does Eddie Jordan ALWAYS have to have something to say, or one up on someone?

lol thats the NON PC version of what I was saying
Sick and tired of hearing his stories of how he didnt want DC driving for him, how he started peoples careers, sheltered people, taught them english, knows this person etc etc etc....
That said, I love DC's non bull approach and saying what he is thinking, like he did today.
Another comment that pissed me off today was how apparently drivers are not interested in the welfare of other drivers after big offs, and are focused on their game.
When DC said up til last year when he was still an F1 driver he would ALWAYS contact the pits after yellow flags or big offs to ask if the driver was ok..... Eddie told him he was wrong!

Eddie Jordan loves the sound of his own voice, its a pitty not many other people do!
DC is quality, he just says it as it is....... His opinions are worth listening too where as the only person that listens to Eddie Jordan in our house is the mute button.

Decline and sale to Midland
After losing a Honda engine partnership deal to the BAR (later Honda and now Brawn GP) team in 2002 and numerous difficulties within the team (including a very public row and the sacking of Frentzen before his home GP), Jordan was forced to switch to expensive Cosworth engines. The added burden of this plus DHL withdrawing their sponsorship and Benson and Hedges toning down their sponsorship soon added up and the lack of funds made his team go from bad to worse in 2003. However despite this, Jordan delivered an improbable race win in Brazil 2003 courtesy of Giancarlo Fisichella, the first for Fisichella and the last Formula One victory for the Ford Motor Company and the Jordan team.
Jordan's steep fall from the glitzy heights of 3rd in the constructors in 1999 was now out of control. Despite new sponsorship from Trust computers and the addition of "Quick" Nick Heidfeld and a promising young rookie in Timo Glock for 2004, Jordan were in serious trouble. Jordan retained complete ownership of his team until 2004 and his rejections of rumoured approaches for buy outs (most notably from Peugeot and Honda) may have cost the team greater success.

There's no denying it, Eddie is always trying to white-lie himself into being the Mr. Know-It-All of F1, and in doing so making himself into the Mr. Tw@t. DC was chairman of FODA for many years, actively pursuing changes in technical regulations to increase driver safety and so has always had a sincere interest in the well-being of his fellow drivers, hence why he would be a little more concerned than others about the outcome of any incident.

Fair point CB, but that said I find it hard to believe that 19 other drivers would not be interested or concerned about a fellow drivers wellbeing.
I know they are professionals and have a job to do, but I think Eddie was playing it down a little too much.
And to just tell DC he was WRONG.......... plank lol

I agree Snazy, it would be a sad state of affairs if they allowed the competitive spirit to outweigh respect and concern for their fellow drivers.

I guess i'll be a bit of a lone voice on this
Jordan has been there and done it all, and done it far better than many so a lot of you are being unfair on that front. I think the start of his problems in F1 was he went after the Tobacco money which was easy to get but was never going to last, had a few great years though and there was a time where a Jordan really was a seat people wanted.
Then being such a personality as he is, he was never going to do a deal like sauber did with BMW, so the team passed on to a few half hearted attempts (wtf was spyker ever going to achieve) and is in better shape now than it has been for a long time.
HOWEVER, i do agree he's coming off on TV like an idiot, he used to be great when he was interviewed as a team owner, can't seem to transfer that to general punditry though, i reckon he's been given some role to fill by a producer which is making it worse
About the drivers, some wouldn't (at the time) want to know about it, some would

JRFRACE, you make good fair points about his past. He has indeed covered a lot of bases in the world of F1, has a wealth of past knowledge and cannot be written off as a fraud.
But you make the other point well too, his transfer to pundit has failed, he constantly tries to name drop, and considers himself the same stature if not above Bernie etc.
Its that been there done it attitude that ruins everything else.
I honestly think BBC's coverage of F1 would be better without him.

Do yoou think for one minute that someone told Eddie Jordan via radio to the earpiece they were all wearing ?
I agree though Eddie seems to be a real llife Matteeboy now, whereas when he had the team competing in F1 I liked him
never really liked DC as a racer, but he doesnt seem to be so bad now

I find him to be pretty irritating really and can't help looking forward to when he stops talking. I noticed that he was forgetting to change that montrous watch from ome arm to the other as he changed sides this week though!
The other annoyance is that commentator Jonathan Legarde or Legume whoever. Wish we had the prevous commentator who was on the ITV coverage instead.

What he actually meant was that if there was a big off he wouldn't tell the driver because that would be for after the job in hand. Right now its about getting the job done without the added worries that a colleague might be badly hurt. It does sound like a lack of compassion but you can understand the point.
However, you can also understand that the drivers want to know if their friend/colleague is OK so its a tough call to make. Drivers see it from one angle, a team boss from another.
Martin felt like adding his 2p to the mix though on the "Painful to watch EJ" grid walk.
He is a bit of a berk isn't he.
