My lad just got a summons.
Some of you may remember way back in March of this year, me taking on the local Scamera partnership, with the help of my MP, to FORCE them to allow my eldest to do the speed seminar he chose to do, then had to go and work in Holland.
Anyway, he did it, paid up front and forgot about it.
Today, he received a summons from Humberside Police, alleging that he did not attend the seminar he was booked on, and has not responded to any communications since, (in fact, there have been none, which I know since I open his mail that arrives here, but hey, this is the liars, sorry, police we are talking about here, so let's not get carried away )
So I ring the chief inspector who signed the summons and get his voicemail, then I ring the Scammers, who, after an hour, ring me back and apologise saying it was a technical error.
I SHOULD have let it go to court, gone myself and pointed out their incredible stupidity and let them pay the costs, including mine. But since I KNOW the the Humberside scammers, when caught out, whine to the magistrates/judge and get the costs paid out of public funds, not THEIR income stream, I didn't, since it would come out of my taxes
I am, however, very tempted to contact the local and redtop papers, just to show what a bunch of theieving scammers these people really are.
What do others think? Shall I go public?

Deffo go public.
The less confidence the public have in these scameras, the more likely they will be tempted to look into avoiding paying up without challenging etc. As soon as these scameras are no longer profitable, they will probably disappear.

For the sake of arguement I would say not.
You will putting your son in the firing line of the state, the big nasty intimidating state. His cards (and yours) will be marked by them ever after.
Have you asked him what he would like you to do?

Ok, I know I will get a hard time for this but.....
Your son broke the law, He took his punishment, There was a clerical error, you pointed it out, they said sorry......
Not sure if there is anything to "go public" about.
For your own health just accept its a clerical error and get on with your life, If the Gas people send you a bill you have already paid would you want to go public? No you would call up sort it out and get on with things.
My opinion is put it to bed, I would be surprised if this is worthy of press attention. If you feel that there is a story, and you want find an outlet then make sure you are VERY factual about your account.

Does everyone really believe that ones cards would be marked for life for going public on a bit of a trivial admin error.
I'm not having a go,i just cant believe that rational thinking people think like this.
Particularly on this site, there seems to be a lot of people who think that big brother is out to get THEM (i agree that the uk is an increasing Police state-some of it ok,some not...)Am i in the minority, who think that the Police/authorities/whoever cant be arsed to have a vendetta on everyone who disagrees with them(or goes "public!")
Sorry to hijack the thread

Think you should just move on and get over it,
Put into perspective you got 1 letter which was sent in error, these things happen from all organisations form time to time, hardly the end of the world, and I doubt any national papers will be interested, maybe a local one on a slow day. IMO

Much as I disagree with the proliferation of speed cameras.
