Saga Gift Vouchers : or maybe give him the cash in a nice leather wallet, so he can buy something HE needs. (which although doesn't sound adventurous) its probably the sensible option. (he might have his eye on something, or just needs help with the leccy bill, you never know)

he is welsh, only interest is man united.
one lad suggested a pen, but he is scatter brained and i think he would either never use it for fear of loosing it, or use it and loose it.
