Default I have found a Rhodesian Ridgeback..

I have him in my house. No one seems to own him and he only looks about 4/5 months old.

What a beauty though. I have taken some pics, just uploading them now

I am waiting for a warden to collect him

He seemed like he was starving and his ribs are showing but he looks very healthy

Here is the ridge

He is very boisterous, he has playfully bitten and scratched my daughter. As we only have ikkle chihuahuas she is a bit over whelmed

He is going to be a lot of hard work as he has so much energy. he is like a giant deer leaping about all over the place. And he met my chickens and he wanted them

They told me that if he is not claimed i can re home him. I would love to own a dog like that but he needs too much exercise and stimulation for me to have him long term. I have called him Red while he is here

Yeah dogs like that need lots of exercise. (with my two dogs glaring at me whilst waiting for me to take them out for a run)

He has just been picked up from me. He is going to be scanned and then he will go to kennels. I will find out in the morning where he is and what is happening to him. If he isn't chipped then they wait to see if he is claimed, after that he is mine

I will find him a new home but only the best will do

I cant imagine that someone would take the risk and not chip their dog, especially as he is the sort of dog that comes with a high price tag.

I have let mine out now the big bad dog has gone. They have just been in season so they are going mental

I can't believe it's been abandoned, it looks far too well cared for, hopefully somebody is out there looking for it already

Our hound had a habit of chasing small fluffy things when we got her

Our psychopath cat soon taught her the error of those ways though

IIRC the Kennel Club encourage dogs with a ridge although it is actually a deformity.

The GB Breeders club suggested that puppies born without a ridge should be put down.

Used to help with Lion hunting in Southern Africa so they don't mess about!!

I read that the ridge was a deformity and that those without it, (normal) were put down as no one wanted them. Thats the foofed up Kennel Club for you

I had to have mine done and it was heartbreaking as they were only the size of a rat, the chip in comparison was huge. D

Have you had a look in your local shops windows...DOG LOST cards.

Someone is going to be really happy to get him back.

I would love to house him or one similar, but I cant.

Yup that is the case, as with many breeds and breeders, if the pups are not what they wanted, they "dispose" of them.

lol @ the chip v the dogs, bless them.
Tuvaaq hated me when that needle went in.

the breeder we got ours from never puts a healthy Ridgeless Ridgeback down she just doesn't charge as much for them, and she is never short of buyers! i would happily have a ridgeless dog, they would still make a fantasic pet, not being able to show a dog is not high on my priority list!

I know every dog is different, and I was probably unlucky, but I was badly bitten by a RR, who was just over 2 years old. He had bitten before, from being a pup. The vet said that some RR start off playfully nipping, and then never grow out of it. By the time they get a bit older a playful nip results in something a bit worse !!

Like I say though, I was probably unlucky. He looks like a lovely dog - hope it all works out.

I think thats a dog thing not a breed thing mate. All dogs tend to try and nip from an early age, and it can escalate.....

So what area did you find him?
I was speaking to the owner of a dog just like this last week in Romford, Essex. He said he only had it for a week so far and it was from a rescue home.
