Default Swine flu vaccine to be given to entire UK population

Link: Swine flu vaccine to be given to entire population - Telegraph

I really don't like the sound of this, personally if I have the option I will tell them to "FCKOFF" when they try to poison me with that isht.

During the 1976 Swine Flu pandemic the mandated vaccination program had to be canceled part way through when it was discovered that the vaccine was killing fifty times as many people as the flu itself, and leaving many more with permanent neurological symptoms.

And the current vaccine is being prepared by a company already under investigation for "accidentally" releasing a test vaccine last year laced with live Bird Flu virus!
I would like to see all the MP's get vaccinated first, live on TV and then sit back for a week and see what happens to them before I consider getting vaccinated.

What evidence is there to say that at least a large percentage of the curently healthy population will not get ill in some way or another thanks to the vaccination (and the surrounding hysteria)?

Seems like a good money making scheme for the pharma boys, get half the population ill from vaccinations and then sell a batch of new drugs to make lots of money.

Somewhere someone has not bothered to follow good hygiene and common sense, now we the public have to pay for their cockups.

No thanks, I'll take my chances. It's only mild flu - couple of days off work with a bottle of lucozade isn't the end of the world.

If it was likely to be fatal then I could understand a mass vaccination - but this is either just over-reaction from the government, or they're trying to take attention away from the fact that the economy is screwed, and only above water due to bailouts which they can't afford...

I reckon it should be given to the vulnerable only, small kids, old people, astmatics, diabetics, alcoholics, cancer patients and the Scottish.

I heard from next month 100,000 people a day are going to be catching this, by the time the vaccine is ready according to the government we will all have the old swine flu anyways.

they'd have to make it compulsory which would be an infringement on human rights surely.I will tell them to **** off anyway as i have a phobia of needles and telling someone to do something rather than having a choice isnt in my vocabulary

Errrrr let me think about that for 0.2 seconds. NO!!!!!!!!

I'll take my chances thanks. I had 1 week of school ill and 1 off uni ill, thats been it in all the time I was in education. In the last 5 years I've had 1 day off sick from work.

I put that down to having an active youth crwaling through god only knows what as a kid / teenager. I guess I have a strong imune system.

I used to get winter flu jabs (asthma), and they all say "oh its harmless, just makes you feel a bit "off" for a day or so". Does it hell, four days of feeling like utter shyte is not a "little off". During which I bumped my car partly because of it,and in hindsight I shouldn't have been driving nor be at work - but the doctor doesn't say anything about that, or about operating heavy machinary etc.

Not had one since, I just wash my hands alot more (especially before going for a good rummmage in my nasal cavities ). And like a true germophobe, I always have a nice can of Dettol disinfectant spray handy for any unwashed ikky keyboards/mice/phones/doorhandles I have to touch (joke ....... )

OK, the side effects of the Flu jab is nowhere near as bad as catching flu which could turn into pneumonia or whatever. But what I resent is the adverts and doctors playing down the side effects.

...but its ok to drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, take recreational drugs and even paracetamol (doesn't take much to OD) etc etc, no need to go into the side effects of those vices. Lets get a few things in perspective! Hundreds are killed every year in RTAs, doesn't stop you from driving.

It all comes down to choice though, which is where people may be coming from.

Just for your information if you usually "Will bend over, spread your cheeks " to get an injection I expect your Doctor has been using his 'special' syringe.

To the question, mass vaccination seems a complete over the top reaction.

I think that 33 years after that earlier business they must be a lot better at producing safe vaccines. They make a different one each year to cope with the next virus that is coming up since the viruses change as time goes by.

The Swine flu virus is not all that far removed from the sort of flu which normally comes around anyway. I have had the vaccination each year for a long time now and never had a problem so far. I shall accept the vaccine when it is available.

Good chance you won't be going to a hospital or surgery for the jab. The plans for Cheshire include using leisure centres and the like.

Clinical staff who have insurance via their professional bodies (eg dieticians, physio's etc) are being trained to give the injections (as opposed to front line doctors and nurses). My misses is been trained this afternoon.

Hmm I wondered why he spoke with a funny accent!

Anyway I think it is already being touted as compulsory - just take a look at the way they are wording the whole affair, barely has any mention been made of having a choice.

In the US one of Obamas advisors is already trying to get the idea going to make it compulsory and lockup/fine those who refuse... WTF?!

Forget police state, we are waking up to a global world state, policed from the top down.

Almost everything we consume is poisoned in some way but you have to take a step back and think to yourself - you are being immunised against an illness by being injected with that very illness in the hope that your immune system will get stronger...

Oh well could be worse, we could all be forced into dressing up like Gordon Brown.

The vaccine would have to make me feel pretty rough for me to think about not having it, given what real flu makes you feel like. Has everybody who is saying they wouldn't have the vaccine had proper flu (and not just some silly man-cold)? Flu made me feel like i was closer to death than anything else i've ever had. Shocking virus.

The effects of the 2nd phase of the virus pandemic in the autumn/winter is most likely to be more severe than it currently is. So does it not make sense to reduce its effect? So by not doing anything, you're happy for the virus to spread and mutate to a more virulent form? Should the Government just sit back and do nothing instead? If half of Britain's workforce was off due to the virus, wouldn't the impact on the economy be hit massively? Can anybody suggest another viable alternative other than have everyone sit it out at home for the whole of winter?

The vaccine is not compulsory, they can't make you take it unless they push through a new law. There is a priority list for people that fall into a certain category, if you don't meet the criteria you won't get it. I'm not a huge fan of Government and their policy, but its a case of you're damned if you do or damned if you don't.

So when the 2nd phase comes, when there is likely to be a huge number of carriers of the virus you would want to protect yourself and your family? Swine flu or not, flu and I mean proper flu and not a cold or sniffy nose is pretty debilitating and can lead to death for the old and weak and in one case a healthy person.

Can you tell us how a vaccine created for the current version of swine flu will protect us against a mutated, more or less virulent, virus? After all they tell us that the normal flu vaccine needs to be renewed each year as the virus has mutated ... And there is no need for a vaccine for the current virus as it is a *mild* flu virus, in spite of the deaths we have had already.
So, why are *they* pushing it? Nothing to do with *vested* interests in the companies that manufacture Tamiflu and the vaccine I suppose ....

Dave
The virus will have to mutate to survive and thus its in its interests to try and stay in a host for as long as possible thus ensuring its ability to infect new hosts. If it mutates into a serious killer then its not good news for its own survival, as killing the host over a short time period reduces its ability to spread to new hosts however if it doesn't "up the ante then if also loses effectiveness".

Thats what happened in 1918, which is why the govt is wanting to vaccinate the whole country to try and prevent the second coming.

Whether it will really work or not is of course up for debate. I will be having the vaccine as I'd rather take my chances with a 1 in 250000 of a problem occuring than a 1 in a 1000 with the virus.

Still lets all go "oink oink!" and have a laugh about it..............
