Interest rate info
Anyone know the best place to find historical trends for interest rates for other countries that have had very low base rates and how long it took for them to rise and at what rate of increase?
Personally I can't see how the UK economy could sustain more than a 2% rise in the base rate in the next 2 years due to the backward steps it would enforce on businesses which in turn then reflects on to the general public - i.e. cost cutting = redundancy/down sizing = less money to spend in the shops/on a mortgage etc etc until we end up back where we are now.
I know there are plenty of people who do believe they will go more than 2% in 2 years and I am generally interested in how they explain how the economy would sustain such rises without heading back to where we are now. The green shoots of recovery being cut off and all that.
