Flights face green tax in new bid to tackle climate change - The Daily Record
"Air fares could soar to help fight climate change, Gordon Brown warned yesterday.
The Prime Minister said the aviation industry could be a potential source of revenue for a multi-billion-pound fund to tackle global warming.
The proposal could mean the introduction of a new range of flying taxes."
And who are those airlines going to pass those charges onto ?

What exactly would they like the weather to permanently be like anyway?
Should the planet stay exactly the way it is forever?
How do we know if anything that's being done is helping, as all we keep being told is that things are looking worse, even though there's a new 'green' initiative every two minutes.
What is 'worse' anyway?
I'm off out to stoke that long standing tyre fire of mine

I'm getting royally pissed off with this. Aviation is probably at the forefront of green technology. The measures manufacturers and airlines use to keep emissions to the lowest possible levels are mind boggling. And I fully accept that this has more to do with saving fuel and reducing cost than " saving the planet " but the net result is the same.
The aviation industry in the UK is in dire straits, and another green tax ( WTF does all this money go anyway, it sure as hell isn't on any green measures ) is going to tip many companies into bankruptcy as passenger numbers decline even further.
