Virgin Atlantic, online seat reservation
OK, never flown Virgin before, so was wondering how definate the online seat booking was?
Booked the flights months ago, but didnt think of seat reservation.
Just looked, there was not much left, so went for 2 isle seats, 1 infront of the other for me and the missus, rather than middle row, side by side.
So whats the chances of these being changed at the airport, or are they set in stone.
Experienced comments please lol

Slim... if you've allocated your seat already then that's pretty much what you'll have. Especially if you then check-in online as well.
If you check-in "in person" rather than on-line then you could obviously elect at that point to change seats if others were available and you wished to do so.

Im not looking to change them, tbh I think its worked out ok really
Missus always gets jammed between me and a random, so this time we are both on the isle, and both next to a random lol.
Just dont wanna prepare for being on the isle with access to the overhead, only to find it gets changed.
She is only in the next seat behind, which means the person behind wont cry and moan when I recline, as she is only 3ft tall lol

Sorry Snazy, online check-in does not guarantee that you'll get those seats. If you're travelling as a two, try and allocate yourself seats towards the back. Rows 61 thru 65. Much more space back there!

Fair enough. Good to know these things.
We are in rows 57/58 I think at the mo. The rows you mention are all doubles anyway are they not? Were all showing as gone, as was most of the plane, so im assuming most people have cast their preference.
Guess its a see on the day thing, but hoping to do it all online. So I assume that if its done like that, and the arrangements do change, you just get whatever you get lol
PS this was not online check in, it was just tweaking the reservations. Online check in is Friday for us.

Ask on the day. I did and we got two rows of two. There's almost an entire seat width between the outside seat and the window, as the fuselage tapers at that point. In addition its close to the rear toilets ( they're slightly bigger ) and the food carts start from the back so you get the choice you want!!

I was sat next to a supposedly loaded (and boy did he want me to know it), but chavvy middle aged couple. You know the sort, wife with plenty of bling, fake tan, too much perfume, bloke, hard looking type, shaved head, big gold chain. Worked in construction in the UAE or Saudi, can't remember which, telling me he'd built this hotel, that hotel etc. and didn't have a good thing to say about anywhere including the UK. They decided they were going to drink the plane dry of wine.
Not a pleasent flight

Aaaah that sounds a bit crap dude. We have had a couple of bad ones in the past but nothing too serious.
FM I shall indeed see if there are any changes available on the day, worth a punt eh

every plane including a couple of Virgin flights to the states that we have reserved seats for have been allocated as booked otherwise the system is slightly pointless.
If you want to be allocated vacant seats then you have to wait until the airport ;-)

Thats more like it lol.
Its not the perfect arrangement. Those are upstairs lol. But it will do if it works out this way.
An exit seat would be fine too. Im flexible as long as its favourable

OK any smart people answer this one....
Reserved the seats 53H and 54H online on the seating plan the other day.
Just checked in online and its now allocated 48 H/J for us.
However checking on the seating plan we still have 53 and 54.
Im guessing because the boarding passes are printed as 48 H/J thats what we will now get?
It is worth asking to be moved when we get to the airport in the morning?
Or is it a lot of fuss, and queuing, defeating the point of online check in lol

Snazy, if you know what type of aircraft you're flying on have a look at the seat guru for a bit of info. I work for BA and we have some crap seat positions that are well worth avoiding (near toilets, no recline etc.) i'm sure Virgin have the same problems and from what i've heard some seats don't have much foot room due to IFE boxes under the seats (we're the same).

lol excellent news, I just found this review on Virgin 747's...
Was amused by this one too.
I guess there are parts of the plane you would feel it worse on but.....
What I love about people reviewing these things... 1/ people rarely log on these sites to applaude airlines, and 2/ from the sounds of it, most have never been on a plane before either lol
Avoid 48 A-K as they as directly in front of the main galley and the FA's gather there to chat etc.
Virgin 747-400 have more room at the rear of the aircraft. Rows 61-64 have just 2 seats at either side, ie AC and HK and have slightly more room, but you are prone to massive turbulence there.

Everytime Ive used the online booking my seat has been a firm booking
Knowing your Virgin air cargo rep well is a good way to ensure free upgrades
Ive also got 100k+ virgin airmiles which Ive yet to spend

Aaaah all checked in now. Just hanging around in the departure lounge now. Didn't bother moving seats in the end. No one behind can be a plus at times lol.
Plan currently scheduled as 15 mins late taking off, and 15 ahead of schedule for landing

Was a great flight.
For the record row 48 is no big deal at all. Suited us fine
Missus was detained at immigration for a while but all sorted. Buddy collected us from the airport and we have one of his cars now.
Just at the house chillin by the pool now. Cold drinks and 90 degrees
