Default Anyone from around Old Trafford?

I'm taking the wife and daughter to the Take That concert tomorrow night.

The timing of the start is hardly the best as we'll hit rush hour getting there and with the extra traffic, I imagine it will be chaos!

I'm looking for somewhere to park around the end of the M602, so we can walk the last mile or so.

Hopefully this should get me out of most of the traffic both into and out of the area

Is this a good plan or should I just settle down for a wait in traffic and park at MUFC?

If the plan's a good one, can you suggest where I might park?

Cheers

(Oh BTW, the scoob is most definately staying at home!)

Park at the ladywell tram stop (free & manned) and get the tram for the last bit. I allways leave my car there and get the tram into manchester/old trafford/salford quays.

Welcome to Metrolink - Stop Information - Ladywell

/edit although from the info on that link, the ladywell line doesn't go to Old Trafford (unless I'm thick!)

it doesnt! but it does take you more than half way down trafford road!
get off when you get to the quays and walk the rest of the way, it shouldnt take you more than 15/20 mins from there.

as far as i am aware i dont think ladywell car park is bad for theft as i dont live to far from there

I used to park my car there every day for years, and never had any problems, or heard of anyone else who had any problems (our company lease 200 spaces on there). It's fully floodlit, and quite safe.

It's manned by security guards and full cctv with only one entrance in and out past them. Pete's right, it;'s about 15 minute walk from Exchange Quay.

Lol, cheers I take it you're on the tram route?

I'm coming in from J18 of the M62. I was going to go anti-clockwise on the M60 and pick up the 602.

I wouldn't want to put you out, (Not sure you'd want to clean the wife's Civic anyway - though god knows it could do with it!) but I'm all warm inside at the offer

Scoobynet - All warm and cuddly !

Default Car parking

Nearest met station is Timperley, you would be coming away from City.Still am only 10 minutes drive from Carrington spur, then you got 10 min ride to Old Trafford.big plus you miss all the aggro with traffic

Well it all went t*ts up anyway. Serious accident on the M60 meant it was closed @ J12. I sat in stationary traffic for 10 mins before coming off and going clockwise to J7

Traffic clockwise was at crawl because.............The rubbernecked f*ckers were all gawping at the serious accident anti-clockwise and it was backed up for miles

We managed to get parked and have a good concert though (if a little flustered after the journey)

Thanks to all who offered advice
