Very sad news
Some of you may remember that just over a year ago my girlfriend and i added another dog to our familey. Sadly yesterday we decided it was best to have him put to sleep. when we first got him we gave him 6 months or so because he was in a bit of a state but the old boy just kept on going. But after the past few weeks of being ill it was the kindest thing to do. it's the first time i've had to put a dog to sleep since i was a kid and i don't mind saying it's been one of the worst things ever.
Anyway i'm just telling myself that we gave him a fab last year and made it as fun as pos for him

As Snazy said you gave him a good last year so you did your best - who knows, he may not have lived as long without the love you gave him.
I too dread the day that i have to do this, i can't imagine what you've gone through.
RIP Zack

He was lucky that you took him in and you are to be praised for that.
It must have been terrible to have him put down. I don't know how I could ever have that done, luckily I have never been in that position.

Thanks for the kind words guys. People said we were mad to take on a 14 year old dog but my heart just melted when we first met him. as you guys said i'm taking alot of joy from the fact we gave him a fantastic last year. I guess it's just a part of pet ownership everyone will have to go through at some point.

Had to put down a 20 year old dog that had spent all of his life as my family pet, so I know exactly how attached you can get to them, and just how heartbreaking it is when you have to let them go.
Be thankful for the time you got to spend together and proud that you gave him a good home in his twilight years. He wouldn't want you to be unhappy.
All the best,
