Chrome plating wood?
Is there a process that allows wood to be chrome plated plated?

You can get chrome spray paint, its not as good aschrome plating.

Plating sort of implies som sort of electrolytic process - wood doesnt naturally aassume positivity or negativity
- but i wait to be informed otherwise

There used to be some kind of liquid that would leave a shiny silver finish on items but it was a big con of course-after a while the silver would seem to evaporate away.

i think its gonna be a few layers of wood sealant then sand it back really slowly until its almost a polish finish then spray paint it silver

That would be silver paint then.
You could wrap said plank of wood tightly in kitchen foil - it will look fine...

Varnish it, then cover it with graphite powder... that should get it conducting enough to plate it.
