Default What would you do.

A good frend of mine who was a forklift driver got laid off last friday and cant

find work anywhere, and he is considering re-training to be somethng else.

I have suggested that he goes into IT but he is not keen of the IT industry.

If you had the time to re-train what would you do

I would be an IFA, I know people will laugh but train now and be qualified for when it picks up. If not the Paralegal, more work than you can shake a stick at. Honestly I could get him work tomorrow down here.
Its nuts, everyone is suing everyone at the minute and people are getting nicked all over the shop.

I would become a seller of 'Random Light Generators' for the dashboard (tell the gullible that it somehow is needed to protect their engines)

Retrian as a sparky or plumber, people will always require them for new or old properties. could pay 200+ a day so not bad money especially self employed, depends what he/she wants really. IT, nah!

Sparky or plumber, without a shadow of a doubt! My son is 11 and I'm already pushing him to do one or the other.

Deffo a trade, decent IT technical jobs are still going abroad so limited opportunities and getting in to non tech would usually require experience.
