Calling con...coin...co...people who know their food and drink
A collegue of mine is having a posh 30th do and I don't know what to take as a pressie. He's a wannabe chef and loves interesting food and drink. I don't want to spend a fortune but would like to get him something unusual. Any suggestions? It needs to be something I can get before Saturday. Failing that, what's a decent bottle of wine to get him?

If you want a good special occasion wine have a look at a
Louis Latour:
Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2002, You can get it from Majestic somewhere around the £50 mark.
or
Peter Lehmann:
Stonewell Shiraz, Barossa Valley, South Australia 1999, again probably from majestic but defo from Oddbins, its about the £30 mark. If your in Oddbins and you want some bubbles for a special occasion have a crack at
Taittinger:
Comtes de Champagne, Blanc de Blancs, Brut 1995. Its pricey at £90 but its a good occasion bottle.
Failing that how about a set of J.A. Henckels knives???
