If the braindead cvnt gets funny, threaten him with a solicitor. Bang out of order. Any common sense shows you check both sides of the fence before doing something like this.

I've got some paint stripper, that'll get it off won't it

When I resprayed my old car, I built a 2m x 3m side gazebo to do the painting in and then told all of the neighbours what I was doing letting them decide whether or not to move their cars.

Simple solution, cloth with t-cut and thinners,(or two cloths) should take it off no problem. Done this many times to lots of cars, remember to polish it afterwards tho as otherwise your bodywork is open to the elements.

If you've done it many times James, you'll understand that polish mearly cuts/fills scratch marks, and wax seals/ptrotects paint. Poish will do jack sh*t with regards to protection if you put it on top of thinners or anything for that matter.

Count yourself lucky;

Someone in the factory units nearby is spraying stuff in the open.

Now whatever it is they keep spraying (metal fabrications I guess), its blue. Because guess what colours the polishing clothes and clay bar goes?

Not exactly something you want on a customer's restored XK120 FHC. OK, the valuable stuff gets kept indoors now, but my car? well thats outside; I reckon if I stopped cleaning it, it might turn blue on its own accord!

I think I would be forced to hand him the T Cut and suggest that he does the job or pays for the re-spray. Why should you have to slog away at it?

I would then charge him for the T-Cut he used.

speak to the owner of the house next door.

She may have third party liability on her household insurance.

Aye, automotive panel wipe or solvent glue and tar remover usually is pretty good at removing overspray without needing so much elbow grease (car must be cleaned with shampoo and dried first).

Finish off with a clay bar, polish then wax.

A proper detailer will be able to get the overspray off with polishing machine. If you are in the n/w give me a shout as I know a good one.

forgive me, but can somebody explain in layman's terms why the sprayer is liable for anything?

*Edit*
Have you seen the following thread?
http://www.fencesprayers.co.uk/somet...ingitthick****

Don't get me wrong, it sucks big ones and common decency would have suggested that he warn everyone (like a barbeque when the neighbours washing is out) but there is no liability unless I am mistaken.
