I only opened this thread BECAUSE I thought it was going to be about the current Labour government, and that Pete had eventually seen the light... but no... he's still shadowing in the darkness under his bridge.

Isnt this thread about highlighting the current events and to start a discussion on a topic that has touched so many peoples hearts.
At the end of the day it doesnt matter who started the thread but by posting pointless remarks against the OP doesnt that qualify you for trolling/going off topic

That woman doesnt deserve to be referred to as Peters mother as she clearly wasnt a "mother" to him
Whatever sentence they are given it will never be long enough

She should have been forcibly sterisilsed whilst in prison for what she stood by and let happen, the lawyers can agrue what they like, the chils was seen by social services and doctores 40+ times, ultimately she was his mother and there to ptotect him and look after him.
She did not do this and allowed him to be systematically beaten to death!

Apologies do not cut it, sometimes people do not deserve a second chance - IMHO!

The thought that she can dissappear go on and give birth to another child is scary!

Can't really see that scenario happening, TBH. a) invisivbility has yet to be invented, b) the social will be on her case for ever, and c) if she did ever give birth, see: 'b'.

Once out she has paid for her crimes, she can move about, change names and have more children, they cannot stop her from doing so. Lets face it the monitoring she received in the baby Peter case was as good as useless. Likely she will claim to be harassed by the media, will be given a new ID, maybe in another country and she will effectively disappear...

She has her rights remember!

Re the mother I am sure she had a long list of psyciatrists and mental health workers who spoke up for her and it was not her doing or fault.

Re the POS who beat that baby to death, lets hope life means life. no solitary, out in general population so he can gewt whats coming to him and i hope it matches what happened to Baby Peter.

few things rile me as much as harming children, as a parent i find it to be aborrant and the work of the devil!

How can anybody beat a 18 month defenceless baby to death - i hope he does not play the mentally ill card, this is just evil!

Having only just become a father myself and being scared of hurting the baby by picking him up, trying to wind him or panicking when he makes a strange sound, it makes actually feel physically sick that this women could allow such things to happen to her little boy.

My baby is in his cot next to me now looking around and I would do what ever it takes to stop anyone from hurting him. When the midwife was taking blood (tiny amounts from his foot) I was wishing she would just take it from me, hurt me as much as she liked to stop him from having any pain ... its a whole new experience to me feeling like this and I would happily sentence these people, mother included, to death.

I heard on the radio; Mother got 10 years, min of 5. Father got 12 years, min of 6.

I agree with Pete, anyone who can go along with the treatment that poor baby had without doing anything about it deserves a very heavy sentence indeed. The list of injuries the poor mite had is truly mindbending. What on earth were the medical authorities and the child protection people doing I wonder? How the mother could go along with that sort of thing let alone the **** who was doing it I can't believe. She was even hiding his injuries on his head with smeared chocolate! Quite unnecessary to say it is quoting the obvious of course. We are all entitled to comment on the news.

There is also the business of the rape of the two year old to be dealt with too yet I think!

Looks like the boyfriend got longer for rape than for murder! FFS the whole system needs changing. I know it is an horrendous crime to rape a 2 year old but surely when you beat and kill a one and half year old child you deserve life for that crime!

Yes, you are spot on Andy, it really does.

Then you only need to look no further than who makes them - Parliament ans the MP's within along with the EU.

We have a lot of self serving MP's it is hardly surprising. around 100 out of the 640 or so MP's have been immoral or even deceitful with their expesnses.

It is hardly surprising really.

These are the same MP's who feel that running down a 3 y/o and fleeing the scene - the driver on a provisional licence is only worth 6 weeks in prison out of a 3 month sentence.

The whole judicial and law and punishment system need to be overhauled and include input from people who have been victims not just the out of touch slef serving MP's and the faceless EU!

3 perfect reasons to bring back the death penalty . however much cheeper and better sport use them to replace the fox . allow the a 10 minute head start then let the hunt commence . i for one would pay to rent a motorbike and rifle

These scum should be killed ... simple as that - the mother should be sterilised at the very least (but. no, it's against her human rights!).

We can see the evil children coming through from school - they have no hope of ever being a worthwhile contributor to society ...... they should be culled.

Everytime I see pics of Baby P, I cry. He was a beautiful little boy. I will refrain from commenting what my punishment would be to all who failed him

Agreed, it really upsets me and makes me angry, there really are worse crimes than hurting/abusing or killing children & babies!

The perpetrators should never, ever get our of prison and the people who let this happen such as social services and hospital staff need looking at real close to see if they where negligent and or need retaining, if negligent in a child's death then jail time!
