Thumbs up for Skype
A few weeks back I posted on here asking if Skype would be worthwhile as a way of cheap communication with my kids who are travelling this summer to USA and S America.
Usual mixed advice from SN from "waste of time" to "it's great" and some duff comments.
Well I went ahead and registered which is free anyway, paid £8.00 for a stand-on-desk mike and bought £10 of Skype credit.
Well my daughter (who did travel in the end btw) is now in Sao Paulo and we used Skype to have a 16 min chat this morning. Call went straight through to land-line where she is staying and was clear as a bell
Cost to me 26 pence although I think the land-line there picks up a "roaming" bill.
So I am well chuffed and would recommend for anyone in a similar situation.

There should be no roaming on the terminating end. However, you could have paid 16p and used a regular phone:
