That's the way to go .....
Our pet Rat died yesterday .... after a quite incredible life of 3 years and 2 months!!
She had a companion until a few months ago, when it had to be put down due to a tumour - Rats suffer from tumours.
She had her breakfast, enjoyed a drink, wandered back into her house/container, rolled over, curled the feet up and breathed her last .... Rats are a fantastic pet for most people, clean, don't bite, intelligent and live (usually) for 2 years [Therefore good for a child!]
I hope I can have a meal, enjoy a drink (something stronger than water I hope!), climb into bed, curl up and go to sleep never to wake ........
When the time is right, that is!!

Poor ratty 
Every rat i have ever held has bitten me.
When i was younger i had 2 rats that were fighting so i caught hold of a tail to try to stop them and the skin came off in my hand. The rat screamed until i could get it to a vets to remove the tail
Me and rodents dont go together very well
And dont get me started on hamsters

i used to own some chinese hamsters.
i put 2 males/2 females togther.
not a good idea,the 2 females attacked the blokes all the time and turned there gonads fom the size of a piece of rice to the size of a raisin,not good !!
i digress,they lived a few good yrs after i seperated them,bloody women !!!!
never got on with rats,as said,they always bit me
