Default Dental bridges how expensive

One of my front teeth has been chipped recently by a flying toy car. Not only is it bloody painfull, every time I smile I have half a tooth missing.

The dentist has suggested a bridge, but when I asked how much she just smiled and told me that depends on how many visits it takes

Has anybody had this work done privately? and how much did it cost roughly.

cheers kot

NHS has a maximum charge, rest easy.

If you are rich enough to be private I would put the charge at around £600 .... Dentists are second only to Bankers in their collection of money!

It will have to be private as nhs dentists are like rocking horse **** around here.

I guess if they can charge 90 for a scale and clean 600 is pretty cheap

Right be carefull you don't get caught.....there is a maximum you should pay if you have a course of treatment, the dentist will try and break it up so that you end up paying for it all...

I know cos a couple of years back I had to have a couple of bridges and one replaced..it was something like £250 maximum, then the NHS has to pay the rest, but the dentist has to apply to do the work and most can't be ar55ed with all the form filling so won't tell you about it...get your dentist to do a treatment plan and ask about NHS subsiudising.....

A bridge is treatment for a missing tooth which you don't seem to have LOL

It depends on how much tooth is missing, small chips can be repaired with tooth coloured filling material and I think the current NHS fee is about £44 , if you have lost a lot of tooth substance then you might need a cap / crown which is £198 on the NHS

I was taught to repair chipped teeth using a system by a guy called Vannini

Google Image Result for http://www.lorenzovanini.com/parte_studio/immagini/casi_clinici/caso02/01.jpg

Is this what you have done ??

Morning midlife, I am aware that it could be capped but the tooth in question has never been straight. but up until now I coulf not justify the cost of getting it sorted for cosmetic reasons alone.

I had a tooth which needed some root canal work and was given a huge figure to do it. Asked how much to pull it £6.

It got pulled!

FWIW my girlfriend's private dentist charged me £80 to stick a bridge back in. It honestly took less than 2 minutes.

Bollox, you try getting an NHS dentist around here. We used to have them until Labour made them all go private.

We have the same problem as far as NHS dentists are concerned, so much for Billy Liar's promise to us all!

If its anything like the private charges around here, it will be a licence to print money!

I'm afraid that if you decide to get it done, it will cost!
