Did the deal go through then? Last I heard this morning was that Chrysler is filing for bankruptcy protection (chapter 11?)
I'm sick of hearing about poor ol GM, Chrysler and Ford. Chrysler was offered a deal by Fiat, which would mean a cut of $19 per hour for it's workers (they can earn between $30 and $70 per hour, and this is for a monkey who bolts cars together) and they were moaning about it (well mainly the unions). Hmm, let's think, take a pay cut and have a job, or don't have a job at all!
The government giving them bail out money annoys me too. Why should tax payers have to bail out these dinosaurs. If they didn't have poor management skills and crap products then perhaps they would not be in the state they are in.
Then again, if they fold, we'll still end up paying for them as the governments will have a back to work program to retrain the monkeys who can't do anything else.

Apparently the chapter 11 application allows the wheels for the Fiat deal to start happening.
Not gonna pretend to understand it fully. Just going on what Obama said at a press conference earlier. That it would be a good partnership.

If I remember correctly, Chapter 11 allows for you to continue trading due to restructuring taking place that could allow you to become solvent again, thus you'll come out of the protection.
Therefore, they enter c11 for the period until Fiat takes over and then will come out of c11 as Fiat will now own them.
I see Canada has taken some percentage of Chrysler, oh how wonderful. Nice of the taxpayers to be asked if we'd actually like to have partial ownership of a car company. A sneaky way of giving them money I feel.

the americans ( that bastion of free market competition -- that is supposed to drive quality relentlessly upwards) make some shockingly bad cars
cars that have not evolved since the 70's, cars that most discerning customers in Europe would just laugh at
In my opinion they are all dinosours and most deserve to be consigned to the dustbin of history
(Mustang GT500 aside)
