Our Little Girl
Our baby girl arrived a little early than expected
Charlotte Elizabeth 7lb 6oz
My wife went into labour 3 weeks early at 3am and was having contractions 5 mins apart lasting for a minute so we had a mad rush to get to hospital, it normally takes 45-50 mins during the day we did it in 28mins in the Scoob (Bet she never lets me drive that fast again )
Was a very emotional day seeing Charlotte arrive then an hour later my wife collapsed, all the alarms went off and they rushed her off she hardly had any blood pressure leaving me stood there alone with our hour old baby expecting the worst it was not a good 15 mins waiting for news. It was Anemia not an internal bleed.
Anyway she is on the mend and Charlotte is perfect can’t wait to bring them home

my little cherub was 7lbs 12oz, and five weeks and six days early,
everyone thinks the days were wrong but they werent, he had to go back in for a night or two,
he was going every hour between feeds
now he is as as strong as an ox.
aged 7.
kids are a miracle mate, bet your were crying your eyes out

Congratulations mate - our eldest was 2 weeks late and 10lb 10oz when she came out. As wierd as it sounds, the delivery of our first child was, without a shadow of a doubt, THE MOST SCARIEST moment in my life - a mixture of emotions but predominantly a fear of the unknown, and nothing prepares you for that first time in the delivery theatre does it? Especially when they whisk away your wife without telling you what the hell is going on (mine had a red emergency cesarean section), leaving you with sprogg expecting you to know what you're doing; antenatal class didn't teach me anything relevant to post-birth experiences and there is nothing in this world that can possibly equal the responsibility of raising children and everything it entails - it certainly turns your life upside down and puts you on a different level as a person.
I have to admit I'm not the most emotional of blokes so didn't do the crying thing when the wife gave birth but I did do every single one of the 2am feeds (mainly to give the wife a rest - think she appreciated it more than tears at birth) and what I experienced during those early hours in the morning when it was just me and my newborn was a feeling that cannot be described, will never be recreated and is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life; suffice to say I made sure I did the same with our second child.
I won't kid you mate, raising kids is hard work but you definitely get out what you put in!! Enjoy the good times and work together with your wife through the difficult times (and I guarantee you there will definitely be some testing and straining times).
All the very best in your new journey together.
Ps, sleep and lie-ins are now a thing of the past - and sex becomes opportunistic!
