What's The ScoobyNet Verdict?
Bank worker paid double for three years ... takes Barclays to Industrial Tribunal.
What would you decide?
Barclays bank worker paid double in error for three years | This is Money
Personally, I think she KNEW there was an error and should pay every penny back

Before reading that I thought "She must have known and has kept quiet" but after reading it seems they gave her a contract for that amount and that she hasn't ripped them off.
She shouldn't have to pay it back (and it seems Barclays have now dropped that request)

A brother of a friend of mine was over paid by accident when he got a job when he left school at 16. He was on about £22k per year.
He did not tell them and niether would i. I believe if they have made a mistake its their problem

They have agreed not to ask for the money back at least. I think she is pushing it to insist that they continue to pay her the same salary however. Its a moot point about her original contract but I think she would be morally wrong to expect the double salary to be continued now.

Not cut and dried by a long way. Whilst her contract may say £17k, the article doesn't state if the contract goes on to say that this would be for the full-time role and that part-time work would be pro-rata.
Pete, I would lean towards your thinking here that she knew it and chose to remain silent.
Without seeing the full contract it's impossible to know if she's been stupid or has knowingly taken advantage of the situation.
