Default Winter Sun Locations

I'm looking for a Holiday for January next year. It my seem a little early, but I fly off to Afghanistan for 6-months in Jun and when I get back I want to take the wife and kids away. The basic criteria is simple:
  • Temp in mid 20s
  • Must have beach and outdoor pool
  • Family orientated so not a big clubbing area
  • Not too long a flight time (kids have never flown before so 4-5 hours max)
I was thinking about Tenerife but the temp range seems to be from 15-21 degrees in January so too cold

No idea mate..But I take it your in the forces so you get mucho respect from me, good luck in Afghan and a safe return.

I can add that I went to Los Gigantes (volcanic side of the coast) in February and it was hot enough to swim in the sea and get a tan etc Aqualan was also open with Dolphin shows.

Edit:

Not this year by the way, last, but global warming may have made it even better now.

I've been to Egypt in Jan and though hot enough to sunbathe on the beach the sea was freezing as was the pool. Maybe ok for a member of her majesties finest, but not a wuss like me LOL
The only places that will be guaranteed 20 + in Jan and approx 4 hours are Egypt and Canaries, maybe Tunisia? To get mid 20s you'll have to fly 7 hours to Dubai, which is expensive and boring

Have a safe tour of duty

Cheers Guys, we did Tunisia at Easter about 9 years ago and it was freezing. If it's not going to be warm then we may just wait and go in Mar/Apr time and see what's looking warm (and last minute) then

Tenerife is usually 20s in January although we've had a couple of cooler years recently so have started going a bit later in the year.

I'm at Northwood HQ, just south of Watford. It's a job, but living in London has its benefits

Thanks for the ideas everyone

Tenerife is looking favourite at the moment, and the water park may well have just swung it. I'll get a couple of brochures, but the plan is to book a last minute deal when I get back

Thanks everyone for your inputs.

Siam Park is excellent. Get the Double ticket and go to Loro Park too (in the north) which has Sea Lion, Dolphin and Killer Whale shows and a nice Penguin House with snow.
