What would you do about Heathrow ?
Its obviously going to cost us lot of money as tax payers to go thro the democratic procedue as to weather Heathrow will expand, so I will ask how would you resolve the need for the expected growth in air travel in the London area ?

Expand a bit more, most the protests are NIMBY's. As above provide a decent travel alternative. And a lick of paint...... For christ sake its like being in 1986 when you go in there.

Agree with the NIMBY's. 95% of all noise complaints come from 20 people.
As for the paint, well Eastside is coming. So that'll make two, new, world class terminals. By 2020, the Heathrow we see now will be gone.

Personally, I'd expand other airports.
I'm of the opinion that too much air traffic is focused into too small an area; I mean does everyone flying to the UK HAVE to go via Heathrow?
I'm sure the question has been asked and people surveyed. So, are they using Heathrow because its the only choice operators give? Well operators should give a choice. Or is it the only place to transfer to another flight going elsewhere? Again; expand other airports so that there is an alternative "hub". Or is it because everyone wants to go to London? If that person was flying there to go to London city, then whats wrong with the other surroudning airports?...Barring them all being manky and too small with poor infrastructure links. Which leads me back to my opening opinion...invest in and expand in the other UK airports instead.

The trouble is airlines want to use Heathrow. Whenever a slot becomes available, there is a bidding war for it. LGW is running at <80% capacity. Plenty of slots there for the likes of BA, VS, CX, UA, AA etc. They don't want to fly from other airports.

A common misconception and one I always hear.

Every country has its congested areas. Not just the UK. It's normally where the wealth is.
