Land line phone with sim reader/writer.
I don't know anyone who has one of these phones but i needed to get a new one so i thought i would give it a try. It has not arrived yet, hopefully today.
Are these phones any good?
I like the idea of being able to transfer the info from the mobile into the land line phone but what else can they do?

We had a BT landline phone with SIM reader. Theoretically a good idea.
However, there are three of us with mobiles who share the house phone. If you all back up your SIMs the numbers go into a single pot, not a directory structure. The person I call Mum, my son calls grandma, and the wife calls Jean. So the same number is repeated three times under different entries. You can't selectively restore the numbers to the SIM, so when you get a new pohone you have to spend hours sorting the numbers. The opposite effect happens if you both have different entries called 'doctor' or 'work' etc., these tend to trample over each other.
So it is a good simple way of backing up your numbers, but don't expect it to be 100% reliable. A SIM reader for a pc would be a better (because more manageable) solution.
