Default Recent thread regarding LED torches....

.... where did it go

I'm sure there was thread on here recently (last few weeks) discussing the merits of various different LED torches including some super bright jobs that can be imported from Hong Kong for much cheapness. Had loads of links to other sites.

Can't find it even though we have the proper search back

Might have dreamt the whole thing or seen it on another site

I feel the need to purchase, especially with the camping season nearly upon us, and want something that will turn night into day Love gadgets like that

I still like my Led Lenser -- in these misty evenings you can pretend you have a light saber

They are diodes aren't they? Are they brighter if you switch them in reverse?

For a few milli-seconds they might be brighter, then a little puff of smoke will appear and it will be about as bright as the dark side of the moon after that

What a cool website -- full of rubbish that I'd love to have

The torch looks cool -- although the battery life seems poor.

1 hour at full power isn't bad given how bright it is. Doesn't take long to swap the cells.

Could spend a fortune on there for stuff I don't really need. Flash lights, lasers, sparkly things, ....

Still not purchased myself but the P7 job does look good

Good torch got the same one myself, just keep a eye on the springs they can weaken allowing the battery to bounce around, if you end up with contact issues i used a tap washer and glued it onto a copper dowell and ground them down to a suitable width.

Last thing you'd want is something metal shorting on the sides.

The p7 is my flood light on the bike, isn't that off a lupine betty and has impressed everyone who as seen it to date.

I use an untrafire c1 for a helmet light, great spot beam when used with a superbright r2 host.

How did you get on with customs and import duty?

I've bought loads from dealextreme but it's always been under or around the limit.

No issues with customs.

Not sure what the value is nowadays, pretty sure they increased it recently?

As it was free delivery, I placed two orders to make sure the value wasn't too high.
