I remember the afternoon clearly, working on my mates Capri listening to the Semi on the radio and then going into the house to see what was going on. I'll never forget the look on those faces at the front

When I think what I've done with my life in the past 20 years those poor Bastards didn't deserve to die at a Football match and should still be here.

Lets respect the dead in this thread and leave the politics/blame out of it

I desperately tried to get tickets for that match. I often think what would have happened to me if I had.

" There but for the grace of God " etc.

Agree with FM, let's keep football and politics out of this thread.

RIP the 96.

May our thoughts be with the families today.

I was 9 when it happened, and still remember it, sat in the house in aberdeen with my dad, telling me how great the liverpool side had been, and how it was going to be a classic game, then it happened............RIP

I wanted to copy and post link number 134 on its own, but could not.

Take time to watch the reports, I did, hard to watch.

Was almost in tears during the Football focus piece on Saturday.

Mr & Mrs Hicks deserve medals - here's hoping that time can heal their sorrow.

RIP to all those who perished.

Very sad events, I remember watching it on telly, horrible thought seeing it all happen, and delivering the paper the following day, I will never forget the picture of a womans face pressed hard against the grided fencing horrible images and I hated the fact they could even put something like that on the front pages

Hard to believe that was 20 years ago now

Doesn't seem like 20 years ago at all. Changed the face of football in this country forever.

Trevor Hicks was one of the few who got a loved one into Tony Edwards' ambulance. He was trying to resuscitate his 19- year- old daughter Sarah when he spotted her 15- year- old sister Victoria being placed into the ambulance.

Trevor tried to push Sarah in alongside her but the bodies were piled high and he had to lay her back on the pitch.

He said: " The ambulance started to move away. I saw the door close and I had to make a decision in that split- second. I thought the fella with Sarah knows what he's doing, I'll leave her with him and another ambulance will be along in a minute."

Another one never came and both of his girls died. Trevor, now 63, added: " In the ambulance, I was sucking the vomit from Vicky's throat. I couldn't get rid of that taste for six months.

" A psychiatrist said I was either trying to hang on to the last contact with my daughters or it was guilt - I was punishing myself for not saving them .

" The hurt I suffered that day was so extreme I can't be hurt any more."

I remember a lad I knew way back telling me a story, the daft f*cker a few weeks after this was going to a fancy dress party but left it to the last minute and didnt know what to do so got a red magic marker out and drew criss cross lines across his face, he got the party and got let in, explained what he had come as to a couple of people and then got kicked out for being a sick ****, the silly get went in and said he had come as a Hillsbrough victim, he explained this to me some years later expecting me to sympathise with him getting booted out, I think there being a relative of an actual victim at the party may have been partly to do with it.

Its funny what some people think is amusing ?
