Question for the TV retailers.
I bought a 32" Sammy LCD 2 years ago and its developed a sound processor fault. I have been paying for a warranty for 2 years just incase anything occured and I'm glad I did. One problem though, the parts are no longer available to repair the TV so I should get a replacement or Curry's vouchers.
My question is....
I paid almost £700 for the TV just over 2 years ago (crazy prices back then!!!) but what sort of return do you think I will get in Vouchers? I'm already planning on hopefully getting a new TV!!!
any offers?

You will get the price of a new 32" Samsung TV I would imagine?
...... or, if it is CURRYS - they will have some parts in their workshop - they will take it in for 6 weeks, kick it about the floor, scratch it to buggery and then return it to you with another fault entirely!

If I remember rightly its model is a Samsung LE32R73
What would they replace that with?

from experience as a retailer, we used to just give the customer the latest version of the teley they had. If they wanted to upgrade we'd then give them the price of the new version off whatever else they wanted.
If they moaned about paying X amount we'd just show them the contract stating it was a like for like replacement not a value for value replacement.

They may just give you £270 and let you buy a replacement?

i'm guessing that your tv is 720p
they try and find the cheapest equivalent TV, and give you vouchers to buy that.
if you have some months left over on your "cover" they should also give you some money for the term thats left over

Just a bit of an update from what happened. I was due to have a courier collect my faulty sammy tomorrow and take it back to the workshop to see if they could repair the sound processor board. Strangely enough though I received vouchers today before they even took the TV from me!! They offered me £600 in vouchers which I was pleased with as the TV was only £700 2 1/2 years ago!!
I was straight down Currys like a kid in a sweet shop!! In the end I settled for this LG. Am really pleased with the swap as I have a lot better TV now!
Currys - Shop for Flat Panel TV - LG 32LG5700 32" LCD TV
I'm hoping now they'll forget about the Samsung because I am meant to be organising the courier pickup but i havent done that yet! Fingers crossed!!

Er no I didnt mate, I though if I have any more probs I'll be spilling a can of coke down the back and phoning my house insurance.
Gotta say though I'm pleased with the service. From the initial phonecall to my new TV was only 6 days!! I paid off £160 of warranty and have got a new TV.
Happy days...

Can you imagine how **** a 40" would be for £600 from Curry's? They are overpriced as it is!! I think I've got a half decent TV now, well a very good TV compared to my old Samsung!!
Besides my front room isnt really right for a 40". Its a funny shape room and I'd get headaches. 32" is just right thanks.

Had a feeling I'd get a load of "Why didnt you get a better TV?" questions!!
I wasnt willing to add more money to it, I'm getting married in June and money is a bit tight. I'm not one of those guys that has to have the very best TV available. The LG looks good with films and gaming and thats all I need TBH.
