is it rude to say I am always waiting for the top banner section to fill out before I get to see the posts?
If the page takes 5 seconds to load, 3.5-4s are just loading the top section. it's very pronounced on mobile browsing (iphone 3G).

Not at all, in fact we are tweaking that very soon so that the forum page loads before advertising. That should bring some real world improvements to you guys.

Finding it very slow today.
After 2 minutes of trying to get on the Red Dwalf thread, I gave up.
It's not our internet speed at work either, that's fast.

Just tried again, and got straight on. Hmmmm

well the loading times are about the same on IE as for FF for me, although IE does still do a 1-2 second pause before the page actually starts to load. I don't know if it's my imagination, but FF seems slower than before, but IE is a lot quicker, at this moment in time.
