At Cadwell recently they advised that suction cup mounts were not permitted due to their insurance policy. Might be worth remembering.

Helmet cam is for cut away shots unless real experienced at using one. The problem lies with how quickly and how frequently you move your head around as you drive - it can make you feel quire queasy after a short period of time.
The camera system is fine just mount it to a fixed point in the car rather than your head. ggogle in car camera grip equipment, there are some mounts that will fix between floor/roof or side to side or off of a roll cage if you have one.
google suction cup camera mounts for a start also tie them off to something so if you do come a cropper thay do not smash your head/body or go through the glass
also look at memory stick type recorders, the DVD type can jump about a bit for in car use, DV still works a treat unless you are real serious and real fast/hard cornering. Ideally a separate recorder mounted low down/on a seat near the centre of the car to cut down on the forces of the DV tape/heads.
