Such a shame, always happens to the good people. 
My dad used to be his weight training partner during the 60's and 70's. Met him when i was younger and got his autograph but havent seen him for ages.
Such a lovely genuine bloke and a very famous Bristolian as well!.
Hope he recovers from it.

True, but James Earl Jones would have needed a suit with a more generous belly! 
There is actually footage of him doing the voice prior to the voice over on the net....and to be fair, you can see why George called in James!

originally he was told it was going to be his voice but george lucas got james earl jones to provide a voice over.
he did tell me it sounded a bit weird saying "i am your father" in a west country accent without it sounding funny.

I thought it was more of a case that George never told him that he had no intention of using his voice! That was unfair.
I think what really soured the deal is when George replaced his face with that of Sebastian Shaw for the closing scenes of Return of the Jedi. I always thought that was unnecessary, especially since Sebastian was heavily made up for the scene!

Hope he is ok.
To be honest I would take playing Darth Vader, voice and face being substituted, I a, glad they did overdub him, I couldnt have taken what was the ultimate film bad guy if he sounded like he was from Bristol, no slur on the people of Bristol, its just not a bad guy accent, I think Salford would be about the best UK accent to use, imagine that, Frank Gallavader (Shameless style)

He's a regular on the autograph circuit and is always with Kenny Baker (R2D2), but a nice guy.

I'll always remember this - I shook his hand and got a signed poster at my local school in 1983. He was in full costume to promote Return of the Jedi and being five we were all terrified
