help im stuck with my family tree
well ive traced my mothers side back to the mid 1500's
as for my fathers ive gone nowere, my nan was born elizabeth c bailey on the 23/11/1919 and she died in 1997, i cannot find any birth or marriage records, she married john applin who was born in 1916 i dont know what date
my nan elizabeth spent most of her early years in a orphange type place in london, but the parents were alive i suppose they just gave her up it would be good to try trace her there some how
as for my grandad john applin i cannot find anything, all i know was he was a stevedore at the docks in southampton
ive just drawn blanks, im using the ancestry website using there free trial so times ticking as i dont want to pay the £100 yearly fee lol
any experts on this?
i found loads of applins but its matching them, census household records seem to be only up to 1900 so to be honest i can only trace birth death marriage etc, no hints are popping up on there names either to try tally the records up

The 1911 census is available online now, but it's expensive to use.Ancestry is good, but you MUST remember to cancel after the 14 day trial if you don't want to take out the subscription. Try these sites..........

British Genealogy is a good forum (I'm on there) Doesn't cost anything, and people will help you out. If you need any more help, you can pm me.
There's a marriage between John E L Applin and Bessie Bartlett in Weymouth, June Quarter 1933.

Hi,
I've found an Elizabeth C Bailey on BMD (via Ancestry). Her birth was registered Q1 1920 in Shoreditch which seems to tie up with the info you've mentioned. The record (Q1 1920 Shoreditch Volume 1c, Page 135) shows a mother's name as Tyson.
I can't find a marriage record yet though.
Does that help??
Cheers

Hi,
It's likely that the birth date you have is correct. It is quite probable that the actual registration of the birth happened in January - March 1920.
Ideally you need Elizabeth's birth certificate as that would give you her parents names....... but the record you've potentially found could be a red herring. Time to quiz Elizabeth's daughters for other names if possible.
Cheers
