So far £11m has been paid to more than 3,700 prisoners after a judge ruled their human rights had been breached by slopping out their prison cell toilets.

In England and Wales there is a one-year time bar for such claims.

Kenny MacAskill wants the UK government to legislate to bring Scotland into line with the rest of the country.

A House of Lords ruling in October 2007 said claims in Scotland could date back to 2001, when human rights laws became operational.

Not necessarily in favour of slopping out, more to do with compo for prisoners - prisoners who chose to break the law and end up in jail.
I do not think prisoners should be allowed to get compo just because they do not have en suite toilet facilities and therefore need to cr@p and pee in a bucket and empty it in the morning. Hardly going to kill them is it.

what next compo for prisoners sent to prison and feel that their human rights are violated because thay cannot go home each day, where does it end...

Can't see why prisoners should have any such rights. Did they think of the public's rights in the first place when carrying out their criminal activities?

I don't see why prison should be an enjoyable place anyway.

Have to agree with Les. After a family member of mine recently came out of prison i was delighted to hear he had 24hour access to a gym, a TV+playstation in his room, fantastic meals and was even given pocket money! i think its disgusting how prisoners are treated!

Prepared to get called a liar by the SN prisoner defence squad who are a little late so far. It is a myth the prisoners have access to these things and you my friend are a Daily Mail reading moron for suggesting otherwise

Whatever you do, do not ever mention that more is spent per head on prisoners meals that school kids meals. It is not prisoners fault that they get jailed, it is society of picking on them and making them the way they are, they have no other choice!

And don't mention that prisoners in Hull jail's families can cross the Humber Bridge for free to see them, where cancer/heart sufferers from the south bank, all treated on the north bank, must pay.

The scum really are catered for above all others and no wonder they think they are in charge, they are!
