Being honest, I don't use youtube for music vids...the audio quality for most music vids is too dire for me to listen to (unless its HQ).
Bandwidth for streaming is large enough to have audio at least that of FM radio; like this website: Watch Music Videos Free at VidZone
Anyhoo, good on youtube for telling PRS to shove it Their tactics are almost as outdated as the BBC's "TV licensing".

I would be very interested to know what they are doing with all this money, as it must be difficult/impossible to shell it out in a fair to all manner.

68.8p goes to writers and publishers (all members of the prs)
17.7p goes to writers/publishers of affiliated societies.
13p goes into licensing, tax and admin costs and .4p to the prs charity
PRS - hope they all get the bad AIDS

Cool - I guess my point is that unless you know exactly how many times a song is played and how many people were listening to it - how can you work out how much to pay to whom?

It’s basically a “whose got the biggest ****" contest
The PRS slapped their 8.5” one on the negotiating table, & looking pretty pleased with themselves
However Google/YouTube slapped a 9.5” **** on the table – looked at the PRS guys straight in the eyes and said suck on that
It always amazes me that the record industry just don’t get the digital new media age
