If you like gore and 'torture ****' then the Saw series, Hostel (not Hostel 2 - it was crap) or Timber Falls should fit the bill. Wrong Turn is pretty good here too.

If you want something a little more sophisticated then The Ring, The Grudge or The Orphanage should fit the bill.

Or how about some real shockers - Eden Lake (makes you want to emigrate), Wolf Creek (but not to Australia) or Them.

Broken is pretty odd and The Mist while not a hit special effects wise makes its mark with a great script and character development by Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption) and the ending is.... well pretty cool

Watch "REC" spanish film about zombie things, think blair witch project mixed with cloverfield. Recently remade by hollywood by the name of "Quarantine" but dont watch that REC is far far superior. Best horror I have seen in years tbh.

+1!

Spanish one will be better, although to be fair, I've not yet seen the US one, but they usually overcompensate for lack of cinematic tension with gore, which tends to kill these kinds of films.

Guinea pig 1 and 2 are quite disturbing, even better when you tell someone that they are real!

Texas chainsaw massacre the begining is quite good, the one that came out a year or two ago is quite good

Enjoyed the new Friday 13th remake/rehash

Watched that on Sky movies this week and thought it was awesome - especially how it looks at Michael Myers' childhood. Very suggestive and more suspense than gore which only pulls you in even more.

The version shown on Sky had some different scenes to those on the DVD i bought the other day (specifically the way in which Michael escapes from the Sanitarium - had to buy the DVD for the extras - film was so good!)

Even the missus thought it was good - now that's when you know a film is worthy!

Rob zombie's films are always worth a peek!
