Funny how all the cars in that pic are LHD and that white car has either an Italian or Spanish number plate on it. Bearing in mind they are in Birkenhead.
Also the guy in the pic has hair and the guy in the story is bald as he has alopecia, summat smells a bit fishy to me.

A fellow courier of mine has just taken a CU80 fine to court (handheld mobile) and won when he proved he was not on it at the time.
He was issued it for scratching an itch on the side of his head. Full days work wasted there again by our friendly neighbourhood Tax collectors.

what exactly is the law on this -- seems a bit whooly to me
if my mobile is in a cradle and I have a hands free kit (either bluetooth or cable) it is legal
but if i have the phone out of the cradle its an offence
is that correct?

Not too sure mate, I think they make it up as they go along, issuing a fine is their only goal!
