Default Well, that's one way of getting time off!

I am a Maintenance Engineer and have been for 20 years. I have always been very carefull when doing my job as it can be hazzardous at times and have never had any accident worth mentioning in that time.........Untill now!
I was doing a job on Saturday afternoon and managed to catch my middle finger in between two very heavy steel corrugated rollers..ouch! It has done a lot of damage needless to say. The nail has been ripped off and also destroyed the nail bed, no skin left down past the first knuckle, broken bones in the end of the finger. The surgeon was giving me the lowdown during my op(local anaesthetic!) that he believes it probably won't repair itself due to the damage done. I will probably loose it down to the second knuckle so it was patched up for now to give it a chance to heal before chopping it off!
Gutted as I was due to run a half marathon in 3 weeks and was really looking forward to it. No more gym for a while either! Worst of all can't drive my baby I will have to content myself with sitting in it and starting it up each day.
Oh well it's "only a flesh wound" as they say!

A mate of mine lost the tip of the same finger twice. First time the sewed it back on, second time they couldn't save it.

Bones heal and chicks dig scars

Please dont!!!!

I dont kno where this came from but for the last couple of years the sight of anything even remotely bloody I have to look away!!! Sarah loves watching all those real rescue progs aswell which doesnt help.

If you saw the war wounds Ive got you couldnt believe what a fa**y I am.....Ive got a manky little finger where I was helped through a window when I used to work the doors, I had a compound fracture from an MX off and countless other wounds.....during my teens my mum and dad sponsored a bed at our local hospital as I was there atleast 3 times a year!!

Freak I know!!

It's only a finger FFS! You will be scrounging my taxes next

Only kidding, just try and keep as much normality as you can... Unless you've got a Wife then in that case - milk it!
Seriously though, a mate of mine woke 1 night after been out on the pi$$ with his finger throbbing. A few days before he got a tiny cut at work that went just behind the nail. Shortly after that it was lopped off. And as said, wimmins love battle scars

Ouch I remember taking the tip off my finger off I didn't feel any pain at first but when I looked down and saw white bone poking out I felt rather sick.

WHAT!, get and do the marathon ya baby, just hold your injured hand above your head so you don't bleed to death.

What you need is one of these

Do the op yourself, use a ciggy lighter to causterise the end and then down a bottle of vodka for the pain (maybe do the vodka first )

You'll be on the half marathon no problem and back driving your scooby in days.

p.s. Don't let your mates call you stumpy - it's just not funny

Yeah I could still do the run but is it morally correct to be running in a half marathon whilst I am off work? Probably not. Just off to hospital shortly to have it looked at and redressed, I will post some pics(with a warning to those who don't like that sort of thing)
KoT: I know what you mean, I'm not queasy but when I looked at it I felt a little light headed!! Looked like a dog had been chewing on it!!
