I've had one for a few years, and TBH the only functions I use are the time and heart monitor, and even most of this I've forgotten how to! as for the rest of it, I haven't a clue, and the instruction booklet is like war an peace, but without the dirty bits! This place was very helpful when I needed a new chest strap...
Adventure Shop - Outdoor Equipment - Suunto, PacSafe, X-Socks, X-Undergear, Sigg, Nikwax, Colin Prior etc
I have very skinny wrists and it doesn't look oversize at all. Tough as old boots too!

I've got an X6HRM, which I've had for just over 3 years now.
It's been through a couple of batteries but they are easy to change (using the common CR2032 size) yourself. The HRM I use several times a week when running and the digital compass is handy. Can't say I use the barometer and altimeter though.
It's been accidentally smacked on numerous door frames and the like but it's never blinked - very robust and worth every penny I paid for it.

There are various types designed for various activities.
There's even a GPS based for golfers!!!
They are large, but very very well made and made for a specific market. I almost bought 1, but tehy had discontinued it by the time I had the cash so bought my MTM.

If the altimeter reading works off a barometer, it'll over/under-read by 30ft per millibar change in air pressure. Better off with a GPS based watch if it's important.
They look pretty nice, though.

Why would it be that far out? Isn't that how all altimeters work....off barometric preassure?
I don't think sky divers use GPS

I have a Metron and X-lander, the Compass and Altimeter keep me legal when flying my Ultralight.
Although not Ghey, they do make me feel a little queer... called Barry.

You need to set either the alt. or baro. pressure against a known value, and then you know what height you're at, or what the weather's going to do, or if you're lucky, both.

I was looking at the Tissot T Touch but that only tells you how much you have ascended or descended.

X9i !
GPS routes for MTB fun are a good safety net ! No maps needed, plus cumulative climb/decend and route transfer to/from PC.
And it charges ffrom USB or mains power.
Not as big as you'd notice in a silly way.
