Default Anyone help with a sickpay question?

Wife has been on sick since 29th December due to appendix opp.

She was paid full weeks sick pay last week no problems.

She went to doctor on Monday who wanted to sign her off but she wanted to go back to work. He said go in on Tuesday but have Wednesday and Thursday off and go back in Friday. No problem there.

She has been paid today for this week but her boss has only paid her for 3 days (Tuesday Friday Saturday) and won't pay her sick pay for Wednesday Thursday because her boss says you don't get paid for first three days. So her boss is saying my wife has started a new cycle of sickpay because she went in on Tuesday yet the whole issue of my wifes illness is down to the appendix opp.

Does this sound a little unfair?

Sounds unfair to me, I would argue that she has already been deducted 3 days pay for this "period" of sickness and ask for it to be refunded.

Ultimately it will come down to the wording of the sickness policy?

Cheers

Unfair yes but my mrs had this when she hurt her back, going back to work, even for a day, reset the clock figuratively speaking.

The doctor wanted to keep her off for another week, she said she wanted to go back so as not to leave her boss in the lurch any longer. The doctor wanted her on light duties but being a hair dresser its all or nothing so they agreed on a day on. 2 days off then back full time.

More fool my wife I guess.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. Given the circumstances, with your wife trying to help the boss out - he's a tight git

iirc if you return from a period of sick, and within 3? days go sick again with

the same complaint, the period of sick is regarded as continous.

If you get sick again within eight weeks of the previous period of illness, you can claim Statutory Sick Pay from the first day.
This quoted from the government website on Statutory Sick Pay. Given the above I would suggest she is entitled to the 2 days sick pay.

Her boss is a royal tight ward - come July when her boss has a baby my wife is going to be expected to run the salon but still only be on minimum wage. And being the oppressive control freak she is she has installed CCTV to keep an eye on the staff from her home when she is on maternity.

Crazy.
