Smile French on strike again.

Over worries about rising unemployment. However they don't know the unemployment figures for this month as the statisticians are striking as well.

You couldn't make it up!

There is always something warmly comforting when you can be smug about the French striking.

read the following

basically some fishermen in Helford Cornwall want to build a jetty to make thier lives easier, instead of having to row fishing gear to the boats etc

it all aproved planning wise -- apart form a legal challenge from some weekend city bankers who say it will spoil the view -- In France they would not have the *****, coz they know that thier holiday homes would be burnt to a cinder -- but we do like being but fvcked in this country

Roger Taylor wades into Helford jetty uproar (From This is The West Country)

That's just down the river from me.

The local pub is hideous in season - worse than the Mariners in Rock!

Di's Double Dear Dairy?!

My wife grew up next to St Enodoc Golf course (in a house of course) so know the area and lots of people there. House now sold but her grandparents have a nice gaff in Porthilly (slightly up the river) and we got married in the little church by the beach,

It's actually a lot better than it used to be - now they all head to Polzeath to be "crazy" and "EXTREME"

typical, make loads of lives a nightmare for the sake of keeping a couple of people happy, i respect the french as they dont sit back and get shafted like we do here, they get what they want as well when they kick off!! Vive La France!!

I have little time for the cheese eating surrender monkeys: but I grudgingly admire their resolve when it comes to sticking up for themselves against the state.

not a very effective strike by French standards this one. Mum manged to catch two buses in Paris this morning and says 3 out of 4 buses were running.

I respect the French for having the poke to get out and protest against their government when they see that things are not as they should be.

Bully for Roger Taylor as well for supporting the fishermen and their jetty in Helford.

Even though I am an incomer, I fully support the locals against the Holiday Home owners who the moment they arrive start trying to change things around for their own selfish purposes against the wishes of locals who were brought up in a locality while the HH owners just turn up from time to time during the summer!

As my old mate from Yorkshire used to say"they want stuffing!"
